Cool man, I've been looking for other Americans who I can communicate in German or at least a language other than English or Spanish with. I know this one other African-American dude that I talk to with some German, but all i ever tell him is "Essen Schnuffler" and "Essen stier kot". I assume you know what these mean.

I am looking to purchase a KUKRI to add to my Gear. I am all about multi-use tools and looks like a Kukri would be a good choice to replace a survival fixed blade knife and a camp hatchet... but I dont have any hands on experince with a real one. I am looking for a fairly heavy duty tool maybe in the 12" blade length range. What size and manufacturer would you recommend?

About KUKRI- I have a concern about combat use; since it has no hand guard i wonder about my hand slipping forward and me slicing my fingers clean off...

I assume from your plans you are also from maryland that's great! Good plans, though i personally dont trust the gov. to do right in this type of situation why wouldn't you move north above the snowline though? I mean it just doesn't get real cold enough in MD IMHO I hope to be a fellow survivor when Z-day goes down

The problem with the cold line thing is you actually have to live through it. I'd rather be fighting zombies than hypothermia. Also we got hit by 2' of snowfall a month ago and had 20 degrees and below for our average temps when that damn Canadian air mass settled over us. So, it can get just as cold as PA especially in the mountains.

"STFU OR ILL SWORD UR FACE IN
I just thought "I'd be concerned about a swordfightin' AK-toting, gangsta frog somewhere in Baltimore" was a great line to finish on." Indeed it was!

I bought a Windlass "Dark Age Excalibur" from one of the guys on the Sword Buyer's Guide crew off of their forum. The SBG chief sold it to me for less than $100 after paying $250 after shipping/sharpening. The sword in the review is literally the sword I got.
It got a poor review, but Dan Sinclair didn't polish the edge like I did, and he didn't like the balance...but it doesn't bother me at all.

Not bad for starters. Even if it's not the most combat effective thing ever, you can get used to using it. Check out these smiths when you want to pay a bit more.
http://house-of-steel.com/ These are the guys that made the sword above.
http://www.badgerblades.com/ These are some of the most durable blades on the planet! I've seen them puncture car doors, and obliterate replica blades. They're pretty fairly priced too.
