About Me: When I started thinking way too much about zombies:When the proliferation of more "realistic" zombie movies (and the comedies) came about, probably starting with 28 Days Later...now especially since The Walking Dead premiered last year. What started my zombie fixation: Jake Weber in Dawn of the Dead...he and I would have made it, man! When teaching science the last couple years, I realized how much we don't know about how so many things around us work, so I try to look up things now when I wonder about them--thank you, iPhone! Favorite zombie book: Not sure I've read a zombie book...have to think about that one. But I AM writing a post-apocalyptic novel, just not a zompocalypse. Favorite zombie movie: Too many...28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead, Deadgirl, Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland! Favorite quote in any zombie movie: "What ya thinkin?" "Pub." My Survival Plan: My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web: You guys need to vote...ApocaBiologist works on here, but it's a bit long on the radio...so..."Biochick?" or "Nemo?" (I have a nasty scar on one shoulder, so "one gimpy fin" but I'll still wipe the floor (er, bottom of the lake?) with any zombie in a swimming race--I kinda like this one because it gives me the identifying mark ID)My location: Currently, Florida... Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? Probably headed west/northwest. Family's mostly in Colorado, but my brother's in West Virginia, small town, so fewer supplies but probably fewer zombies...hmm. I'd probably get them to meet up with me then move on, go places where things grow...Central/southern California is probably a good place to settle for year-round food growing and a mild climate--in the mountains, where there is fresh water. If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? Load up the RAV4! Got anyone I want to take with me? I guess my friend Jessica from FL. Oh, and that guy I know who did my gun permit training who has 17 of them spread throughout his house. I have another gun enthusiast friend in CO I can ask to get my family together out there in the meantime. How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? Guess I need to get me a CB. I have a solar-powered emergency radio, but can't send messages on it. How am I planning to get food and water? Water purification bottle, boiling, bring seeds for planting once settled. Dried fruit, PB, & jerky is great in the meantime. What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? Guns are good, but I'll take a scuba spear gun...reloadable, but the spear is attached, so no losing it. Probably need to get a bow. And something good for hand-to-hand, perhaps something like a pickaxe but lighter...can use to bludgeon, or to pierce those brains. Got a survival philosophy? Be smart, think fast...an imagination's a terrible thing to waste when anything can happen! Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? So long as we have a water source to freshen up at and a way to prevent disease & pregnancy, why not? It would be one of the few remaining pleasures and a very good stress reliever... Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of?
