About Me:
When I started thinking way too much about zombies: After watching Braindead at age 10
What started my zombie fixation: not fixated, really
Favorite zombie book: books?
Favorite zombie movie: Shaun of the dead. It´s honest. No zombie smashing without a sense of humor.
Favorite quote in any zombie movie: arrrgh...

My Survival Plan:
My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web: Mr. voo
My location: Lund, Sweden
Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? Plan changes with location!
Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? I´ll head elsewhere. I must get out of the city.
If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? By bus?- No, I´d had to get lift or find a car I guess. But hey, It´s only about 300 kilometers to where I´m heading, soo....Walk?
Got anyone I want to take with me? Wife+dog, plus Survivors (as opposed to "survivors"). Especially bikini girls with machine guns!
How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? Cooperation is best in smaller teams, otherwise its not safe but I wont look for anybody. I guess I´ll be far too busy surviving.
How am I planning to get food and water? Bummer...The mall I guess....
What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? Almost no one got weapons in this country... I´d have to improvise at first. Probably I´d start with an ax, but then I have to get one first...We got shops nearby that can provide that. Guns I can get across in almost every farmhouse on the route, depending on whether the owner is "still around".
Got a survival philosophy? Avoid the zombies. Wanna dance? I do it fast, hard and merciless.
Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? In small teams while traveling, at safe places with unlimited numbers.
Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? Nope. You cant really plan how it will happen, can you now....But some military experience, seen some ten movies or so on the subject.

So the whole idea about this forum is how to prepare for a zombie attack.... But what if you had no time to prepare at all? If people turned because of space radiation or some other kind of high-speed contamination? If you suddenly saw your neighbour eating your cat outside the kitchen window? Or maybe you´re at the office.

You just have the things around you, so what comes in handy?

Time to act!

I would probably try to get to my wife at the hospital (I know, worst place to be...) and I would have brought the following from my little student apartment where I´m currently at:

1) My Doberman (keeps them away if he´s immune....sure hope so)

2) An IKEA- umbrella (protects from blood as I smash them, plus I can utilize it for popping their eyes out)

3) My military gas-mask (obvious)

4) Covering comfy clothes (hoodie, sneakers etc.)

I would definitly run there, try to avoid any confrontations as I have no useful weapons. I mean- knives for zombies? Then, I would make a plan b when/if i´d find my wife and lived.
Do you find this valuable?
BasicallyDead Wife bit by suspicious dog- now what? 0 May 5 2009, 5:55 PM EDT by BasicallyDead

My story...

My wife´s been on a kennel for about a year now and there´s never been any trouble. Yesterday she was severly bitten by one of the dogs, and she´ll have to spend the week at hospital.

There are some extracurious curcumstances about this that kind of alarmed me. I hope it´s nothing, but then there are those damn viral-type zombie infections to worry about..

a) She claims the wounds does´nt hurt much, but man, the largest wound is about 3x7 centimeters (about 1x2 inches?) and deep down to the bone.

b) The dog that bit her has always been her best friend over there. Now it tried to kill her, it did´nt just bite. She was bitten 10-15 times before rescue came.

c) The dog was furious, and the vet that put it to sleep* said that it was something strange about its eyes...

d) The dog that attacked her had been avoided by the others in the flock the latest couple of days.

e) My wife now has this kind of stiff and slow walk even though she´s on painkillers.

Of what I kwow, the result after turning usually is gonna be some type of rage-zombie, with or without mutations. For those of you who know what we are talking about here understand that I dont want to be unprepared for this. My wife will be home from the hospital soon, and I have no idea what kind of incubation time a possible virus may have. I sure want to be able to sleep when she comes home, but there´s no test for zombie viral infections of what I know.

My questions to you guys are:

1) Should I tell her about my worries and in that case- how?

2) If I dont tell her- how should I know if she´s infected, and how long time have to pass before I can feel safe?

(*I have´nt seen it dead for myself, but in any case a possible mutation of the virus could actually occur when passed to human, we´ve seen it in 28 days later, the shimps were´nt zombies but "infected with rage")=
