When I started thinking way too much about zombies:
My plan is based on Diary of the Dead. Keep gas in the van and a gun in my hand.
I would rather keep moving like in an armored car than stay in one spot. Although it wouldn't hurt to have an HQ or something.
And it would make more sense to have more than one vehicle (at least three) and one being an RV. But everybody can't be asleep all at once. You should take turns because you can't be too trusting of your surrondings.
But like in Dawn of the Dead, you should definately visit a mall gunshop or something. No doubt that there will be zombies there, you'll have an opportunity to gather food and ammunition. And something to keep you entertained.
I'm not sure where you would go, the idea is to keep moving and don't stay to long in one place because its not hard to become overwhelmed.
