I'm the one smiling at the camera. Yes, I Suck at Texas Hold 'em!!! But I kill Zeds good! A little about me. I'm 33, I live in Texarkana, AR. Single, straight, no kids. An outdoors/camping/hunting enthusiast. Like gun shooting, archery, going to the gym, UFC/MMA. Love movies, comics, video games. Am a trivia sponge; it's insane the amount of useless ***** I can quote. Nobody will play me in "Scene it?" anymore ;) Am an EMT-Basic with LifeNet EMS, have completed my Fire Fighter 1&2 qualifications. Am already a member of the local volunteer fire dept. I feel really positive about this choice for my future. Everything I've learned so far has made me want to do this more and more. And I ain't afraid of no zombie!! When I started thinking way too much about Zombies: To be honest, only here recently. I saw the remake of Dawn of the Dead and thought "I could make it. I could survive that. Or could I? What would I have to do to be sure?" And it took off from there. What started my zombie fixation: I try to live in a "be prepared" mindset and to push myself towards improvement, and I came to realize that a zombie outbreak would be just about the ultimate survival scenario, the ultimate test. Favorite Zombie book: The Walking Dead. A comic series by Robert Kirkman. It follows a group of people trying to make it in a post-zombie-apocalypse world. Incredible storytelling. Favorite Zombie movie: Shaun of the Dead (Simon Pegg can do no wrong) Favorite quote in any zombie movie: "How's that for a slice of fried gold?" Shaun to Ed, as they finally perfect their zombie survival plan. My score and score summary on the non-lame zombie survival test:Your Score: Zombie Master (sweet!!!) You scored 76% survivability and 60% kickass-ability!You were born for z-day. Not only will you be killing zombies left and right, but you will be leading the other survivors. You will be the one making decisions and the person who is looked to for advice. Congratulations. My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
My Survival Plan (* indicates pictures I don't have yet, but plan to getting around to taking and adding soon.) Provided I was at or near my house, I'd want to get the heck out of dodge and head for the hills, literally. I live on the outskirts of Texarkana. The further out you go, you start to get into hilly country; the last tiny tail end of the Ozark mountains. My family and I have about 1,000 acres of a private deer lease* in that area, with a nice creek that running through it. So we have water. Plus, I have an uncle whose property abuts the lease and he has several deep wells since he and his family live out past the area where the city pipes in water. WAY out past. Game is rather plentiful out there, and we have all our area fenced off with barbed wire (we'll get back to this later). Still we'll need to consider farming and gardening. Also not a problem, we have at least 2* tractors between his family and mine, plus other family members who will want to get in on this, bringing together community, resources, firearms, and safety. Vehicles in general shouldn't be much of an issue. Between trucks, tractors, atvs, and horses* I'd say we're pretty well covered. Plus, I have a mountain bike* if things really get tight. Fortunately, the houses in the area are all pretty much built on top of hills, so visibility is good and radio reception is awesome. Plus, the lookout "fire tower"* is part of the property. It's about 300-400 feet tall (I'm a bad guesser). There would have to be some changes to the overall layout. Like how to make sure nothing sneaks in past the fences. Probably have to re-fence the property (which will be a chore, 1,000 acres is a lot of area. Ideally, I'd like to spiderweb the entire perimeter with razorwire at least 7 feet high). Most likely traps will be the order of the day. Pits and such that would need to be checked daily. Also early warning devices like signal flares, or 12 ga. blanks, wired to tripwires strung about the property.* Things to bring: My various fire arms and ammo. Others Got to assume that bullets will get tight or scarce, so non firearms would be:* bow crossbow tons of arrows and bolts bats machetes swords knives various sundry medieval weapons crowbars chainsaws Other items I'd bring all medical supplies I could grab bottled water canned goods my cases of MREs clothes radios flashlights batteries etc (yes, I really do have all this stuff around the house right now) The plan's going to take a little work, but overall it's a good start.
