My Take on Zombie Survival:
To survive, one must plan their existence very carefully. I feel it is essential to keep a small group of three or four, including yourself, well informed of the goings on in your locale, and on the national stage. Also, the group must understand the "plan" in the event of a zombie uprising.

Fascination with the zombie apocalypse is a metaphor for chaos, lawlessness, and our desires to be self sufficient. Zombie Armageddon could be subsitutes for riots, natural disaster, invasion and occcupation, or any calamity where law and order break down. My brother and I too have been fascinated and gripped by a fear of such a situation. My fears came to fruition during 9/11, and reaffirmed by Katrina. Lawlessness and greed, self motivating factors from looters and other such opportunists or criminal elements, are the true mindset of the Zombie. Not the "sheeple," we all truely are. None of us are rallying to the defense of a cause, or even able to break bonds of our own contempt due to our financial obligations, "debt." Survival is up to us, and a "hunker down" philosophy increases our survival to most events exponentially. Barring a natural disater where evacuation is warranted and has its own inherent risks. Where own is, what equipment one has on them, and where on is to go, are elements that need to be considered. I have talen into account and can self contain my self for three weeks at home. I have a plan with a redundancy cotingency, and if could anticipate an event, where a disaste such as a hurricane or riot is imminent, I need three hours to prepare alone, or 1/2 hour with 4 people. Remeber ZOMBIE ATTACK is a metaphor. In that metaphor we can prepare for more plausible, or likely scenarios. Preparation quells anxiety, and unifies. Go to the homeland security websites, and the preparations are even applicable to a fictitious event.
