My location: Northern Illinois, 60 miles from Chicago. My plan: If the SHTF will be to head to the Private EMS company I work for and take as much medical supplies (Drugs, Trauma supplies, backboards, ect...) as I can. If there is an Ambulance available ill take that and a few radios and meet up with my family. From there we will head to our uncles house in rural northern illinois, which is about 15 miles away from a big town and our house. He has food, water, gas, and ammunition. From there as a group we will decide our next move. We will use our personal vehicles to move around. We will have in our group: 1 Police officer (my brother), 2 Medical specialist: 1 Nurse (my gfs mom) and 1 Paramedic (me), 1 gardener to grow food (my aunt). 1 handyman/Ammuntions specialist (my uncle), 1 semi truck/car Mechanic (gfs dad). 6 other people in the group dont bring any thing to the group so they will be extra hands. Our group will have a radio from my work with emergency channels and a CB radio to communicate with the outside world. My uncle has walkie talkies for communication between members of the group. Food will be grown in my aunts garden but we will also scavenge for other food and water. My only weapon is the one gun I own and that is a Smith & Wessen M&P 9mm. I have about 250 rounds of Hollow Point rounds and about 350 rounds of standard FMJ rounds for my pistol. My uncle and my brother have more guns and they have between themselves 1000 rounds ammunition for some shotguns and rifles. If we must scavenge ammunition there is a Illinios National Guard Armory near our location. My uncles house has bats, shovels, axes and other tools that we can use as weapons if need be. My survival philosophy is to protect my family and gfs family at all cost. If other survivors need help I will not hesitate to help as long as they will follow our groups laws and rules. My plan is not based on anything other then talking with all the members of our would-be group. This plan is always going to be open to change due to nothing ever going according to plan. I doubt anyones plan on this site will go according to plan. I doubt anything like Z-Day is going to happen but I want to prepared if it does.
