About Me: First of all, I don't believe in zombies, or that the 'dead will walk the earth'. I just enjoy planning for apocalyptic scenarios. But if I were to believe in a zombie type, the most plausible would be the Brooks zombie, as opposed to I am Legend or Dawn of the Dead remake, because if you think about it, when you have a viral infection like a cold, you feel like crap, not be super fast and strong. Too many people have unrealistic plans, saying they'll carry 3 sniper rifles, an M16 and a MP5, several axes and swords, and wear a suit of armour, before going out and killing several hundred zombies with 20 of their buddies. I've tried to make a realistic one, using only resources I have readily available. One more thing - I'm 16 and live in Gloucestershire, UK... Zombie Invasion Plan: Available Weapons: 1x 12 Gauge Shotgun 2x .22 Air Rifle 1x Hatchet Ammunition: 75 Shells 500+ Pellets This is my air rifle. Above the barrel, you can see a tub containing 500 pellets. I could carry several of these tubs without weight problems. The tube you can see below the barrel contains the compressed air, I can take the top off it and put more air in. The magazine is placed on the other side, and it is a small, metal, and circle shaped like a revolvers'. The magazine can hold 10 pellets. This is my spring powered break barrel air rifle. It is slightly less powerful, less accurate, and single fire (takes about 10 seconds to reload) but it is the most reliable, and doesn't need a tank of compressed CO2. If I find it can't kill a zombie by shooting at it's head, dammit I'll just hit it with the gun. Info: I have a 12 Gauge Shotgun which is made for hunting birds and clays, but zombies within 50 meters shouldn't be a problem. Secondly, I have 2 Air Rifles. One is an old reliable scoped spring one, and the other is a brand new top quality scoped compressed CO2 one. The compressed air is meant to be inflated using a CO2 canister, like a SCUBA one, but any bike pump will work just as well (I think, but I don't want to try unless I absolutely had to). However taking the minature SCUBA tank with me has it's own problems, so I will decide on the day whether to take this one or the weaker spring powered one. The advantage of the CO2 rifle is that is that I can have about 50 shots before refilling the air, 10 shots per magazine, it is almost completely silent, and the ammunition is tiny meaning I could carry hundreds in tubs in my pockets and bag. It is as powerful as UK law allows, and can penetrate one inch of wood at 20 metres, so it should take down any zombies who pose a threat to me. If it doesn't take them down first shot, I'll aim for the eye socket and hope for the best. My spring rifle is louder, less powerful, less accurate, single fire, however because it's break-barrel I do not need to worry about refilling air. Finally my close range weapon is a hatchet, which is a small hand held axe which is in my garage. Short Term: Depending on where I am, I will try and head back to my house to collect my 3 litre Camelback, hatchet, air rifle (probably the spring one), and shotgun. I will also put as much water purifying tablets, canned food (with a can opener), and paracetamol as I can fit into one rucksack. My plan would be to leave my house ASAP and head out into to the countryside. I do an awful lot of walking and running in my free time, so by playing to my strengths I do not have to worry about petrol or car maintainance. I would also have to shoot my pet in the head because I could not take it with me, and I could not bare leaving it to the Zeds. Sad, I know, but it's for its own good. Medium Term: If possible I would make my way to my local airfield to fly my ultralight (ahem it's not mine, its my flying club's) as far North as possible, hopefully into the Black Mountains or Snowdonia in Wales if I was lucky and found a working petrol station. The plane flies on the same fuel as cars so it would be easier to get fuel. However the chances are that my plane would be either stolen or destroyed before I reached it. In that case I would have a compass and map and set about planning a week or two of walking or riding a bike to get me deep into Welsh Mountains. I would travel light and try and stay on my own as much as possible, so I don't have to share supplies. The only people I would travel with would be my close family and maybe a couple of my closest friends, if I could find them. I would try and live off wild animals and plants to save me from carrying heavy food with me. In the UK there are always plenty of streams to drink from and purify because it's always so damn wet. Long Term: By now, with any luck, I would be high on the hillside of an isolated Welsh Mountain, miles away from civilisation. I would build a small camoflaged wooden shed to live in, and regularly perform patrols to gather food, water, and kill any stray zombies within a click of my settlement. On my way here I would have stolen and scavenged enough equipment to keep me alive indefinitely. For example, saucepans, cutlery, and a good book or two. I would try and get into a strict daily routine to get my mind off any friends and family who I could not make contact with. I would come up with project ideas, for example designing and making bow and arrows, or an early warning system to keep me occupied.
