A good read I highly advise all to take a look. Bad day at the office. Actually, last Halloween. I love moulage and latex. I was taught how to do this while an instructor at EMT School. They actually had a crew from Hollywood come up to teach us. My Survival Plan: My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web: Ironback My location: Now? Northern California. After Z-day? Pre-set destination. Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? Any outbreak and we're headed to the Compound. Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? Elsewhere. If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? SUV and then a bit on foot. Got anyone I want to take with me? My family and I are to group up with our friends. How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? "Hermit" for the first few months. After things settle down we have a HAM radio and two persons that can operate it. We are already in the process of cross-training. How am I planning to get food and water? Bottled. We also have a large stock of iodine tabs and a purification unit with a filter pump. What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? Colt .223 Match target rifle with a bull barrel and a collapsible stock. Nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done. For up close my .45. For even closer? Duel hulled baseball bat. I know how to hand load my own ammo and have the equipment to do it. I've also rigged a "catch net" to collect brass for the rifle. Haven't done it for the pistol yet.. Got a survival philosophy? I don't have to outrun the Zombies. I only need to outrun you. Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? Of course. Our enclave is already assembled. Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? If anything I would say FM 21-76. Those of you that know what that is may just get to keep your boots on. I will rely on my prior training and that of my group. About me: When I started thinking way too much about zombies: Around the age of 8 I saw the original Dawn of the Dead. It was around 3 am and I tried to hide under a blanket on the living room couch while watching the movie by peeking out from underneath. What started my zombie fixation: Same as above. Favorite zombie book: Walking Dead Comix. I have also read the works of Max Brooks. Humor at it's finest. I would advise not to use his survival guide as a survival guide though. Favorite zombie movie: Can you truly have only one? Favorite quote in any zombie movie: "Get off my lawn you damn Zombies!" Chef from South Park My score and score summary on the non-lame zombie survival test: The link is dead... Yet even more about me: Misc Skills not yet listed: 80's music fan I like hot dogs an tater tots Got a wife, two kids, a dog and a mortgage My vehicles are paid for I don't smoke but do have a beer on occasion I'm a family man. :) Yada, yada, yada... Regarding my post: I take this light heartily and my post will reflect this attitude. While I am a survivalist, I do not intend to overthrow the Government, own illegal contraband, nor break any State or Federal Laws. I am on active duty and plan on retiring some day in the distant future. I believe in my Country, my Government and my self.
