What started my zombie fixation: When one of my close friends warned me of the danger present and showed me "The Zombie Survival Guide".

My location: Golden's Bridge, New York. Although I live only an hour north of New York City, my house is located in a forest with just a few houses around.

Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? My plan will suffice for any class of outbreak anywhere.

Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? For a class 1-2 outbreak, I shall stay and fortify my home with my group. For a class 3-4, we will be heading to safety.

If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? A member of my group (a helicopter pilot) will fly my team to the closest offshore oil rig.

Got anyone I want to take with me? My main group consists of my brother, my pilot friend, six others, and myself. We are all trained in zombie defense, four of us are trained in certain weapons (including myself), and six of us are trained in survival (Boy Scouts, including myself).

How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? Communication, I believe, will be essential, and therefore we will use a ham radio, laptops, hand-held radios, and cell phones.

How am I planning to get food and water? The amount of food present on the offshore oil rig will be enough for roughly 1-3 months. The amount we will bring with us will increase our supplies by about 3 weeks or so. We will also bring fishing poles to fish off of the rig. Should we run out of food for any reason we will take out our helicopter and weapons to search the closest supermarket and fly back. There should be a water purifier on the oil rig. If there isn't, and we are in desperate need for water, we would either search a supermarket or boil ocean water and run it through a filter.

What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? My weapons of choice (you should never carry only one) would be a semi-automatic rifle (with a scope and silencer if possible), a pistol (with a silencer), and my katana (I take martial arts and am trained in this). The former two do require reloading, therefore I will bring 7 magazines for each and a few boxes of the bullets they require. The latter doesn't require reloading, and will always be at the ready.

Got a survival philosophy? I do. "It is better to be intelligent and have a bad weapon than to be ignorant and have a good weapon." Those who want to go in guns-blazing and be heroes have no place in my group. Those who want to use their knowledge to survive are welcome.

Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? Definitely. As long as they are willing to follow my plans and are disciplined, I would take them in. If they are undisciplined, don't care about others themselves, or refuse to follow my plans, I will not take them in, nor will I hesitate to kick them out if they are already in my group.

Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? My plan is, I am glad to say, completely original, yet I must give some credit to "The Zombie Survival Guide" for confirming and inspiring some of my choices.
