For me, the only way to fund your survival is to work your ass off now, and put a portion of your income aside for disaster preparation, much like you need to have car insurance, fire insurance, health insurance. You accept that bad things happen, and do your best to mitigate the outcomes. How much you put aside depends on the likelihood of the disaster, multiplied by the devastation if it occurs.

Trouble is, nobody sells zombie insurance. You need to provide for that yourself.

However, I doubt they will actually cover an apocalypse.

well knowing most insurance companies, they would refuse to pay up. its also quite short sighted, since most infrastructure and communications will be disrupted.personally offering your services as a mercenary would be a pretty good idea, and you could get protection overnight + food
