About Me:

A little bit about me:
First of all I would like to say that I have been on this website looking at articles and discussions for a long time but have recently decided to join up. I am only 18 and living in the UK with my family and attending year 13 (sixthform) at a secondary school. I am planning to moving out and going university next school year (update when this occurs). I have read up on articles, other sites and just general chat and know a thing or two about surviving out breaks in the short and long term. I hope that my opinions are taken seriously in which I will be the same to all others. There is no section on about your actual plan but I may post one here or on a discussion thread.

When I started thinking way too much about zombies:
Started around six years ago after watching Shaun of the Dead (great film) and it got me thinking into what I would do in a similar situation. I started talking about this with mates and it really got me going onto wanting to have a plan for an outbreak. Getting tips from films, games and threads such as this one had all contributed into wanting me to learn more.
What started my zombie fixation:
Shaun of the Dead was probably the main spark but games such as Resident Evil 4 and Nazi zombies (call of duty) also helped.
Favorite zombie book:
Haven't read any but would want to read Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks.
Favorite zombie movie:
Sorry but I have two favorite movies and TV series. The movies are Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland. (Love zombie movies with a comical twist). The TV series are The Walking Dead and Highschool of the Dead (gives amazing perspectives over how it would seem on more of a realistic scale)
Favorite quote in any zombie movie:
Columbus:The first rule of Zombieland: Cardio. When the zombie outbreak first hit, the first to go, for obvious reasons... were the fatties.
My Survival Plan:

My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web:
Sentinel
My location:
Chingford, London, England
Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere?
My plan considers zombies in and outside my hometown as they will definitely be everywhere given time.
Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else?
I will only stay in my household if the outbreak only occurs for up to a month and is dealt with effectively. If not then I will be stocking up and heading out.
If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there?
The main idea is to use my parents car; a Land Rover Discovery but if unable to acquire then it will be by foot as I don't know how to hot wire and wouldn't want to risk a car alarm.
Got anyone I want to take with me?
My Family if I can but if not then close friends, hard to trust strangers in a time of crisis as they can be unpredictable.
How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route?
Most likely a military/police grade radio if I come across one.
How am I planning to get food and water?
Military like rations as they are designed to last for long periods of time, which can beaccessed inbulk before an outbreak would occur. If not then as much long lasting food as possible as my household will probably have a months' worth of supplies at one given time. For water it would be best to fill up all containers (baths, buckets etc) with water before it runs dry, once outside water purification equipment or tablets would be needed as any water source could be contaminated.
What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that?
This section may be a bit long, sorry but please read. I admit that more expertise and knowledge in the field of firearms is limited at best but I still have general knowledge in this particular field. I'm going to answer this section in three parts: weapons I would love to have, weapons that I may acquire in the future and weapons I currently own.
When I was little(ish) I always wanted to own an MP5 sub-machine gun, even going to lengths to buying a BB replica and constantly using it on games such as Call of Duty. Alongside this would be the SA80 A2 assault rifle which is the standard for the British Military and an amazing weapon all round. I wont go into details to why I prefer these weapons to the rest but they are by far in my opinion the favorites. The chances are in an outbreak that either one of these two weapons will be dropped at some point as the SA80 A2 is the norm for the military while the MP5 is the norm for special forces and authorised police firearm officers.Ammo will also be accustomed for these weapons so this could be a viable option. In reality the chances of gainingaccessto such weapons is highly unlikely and impossible to obtain as a civilian, with a licence required for the semi-auto civilian variant of the MP5.
If I was to acquire a section 1 licence then I would buy a Glock 26 or Sig Sauer P226 as they are common pistols used by firearm officers in London for the Glock and the standard sidearm for the Military for the P226. Both use a 9mm round which is most common to obtain in the UK and I would usually double tap the weapon due to the lightness of the ammo and especially if I miss the first round or it doesn't penetrate my target. I would avoid confrontation when possible and only using a firearm when no other option remain and would constantly move position between firing. Also I don't think this had been discussed in the forums but I would keep the magazines as it is easier to find 9mm bullets than a magazine for a particular weapon. If I got a shotgun licence then I would buy an over-under double barreled shotgun (don't know types off the top of my head) due to its simplicity and less moving parts that could break. Plus I have only ever fired a double barrel in my life (not even pistols) so have a good idea for how how to aim, take recoil and reload with that type of weapon. these weapons also are able to fire the majority of shells out there and so would be easier to get ammo/shells. Out of the two options I would prefer the pistol as it is more compact, lighter, easier to carry, more rounds in the chamber, easier to acquire ammo and longer range.
If an outbreak were to occur before I could buy a firearm then I would use my solid wooden baseball bat a short, spike crowbar.Obviously I would only use close combat in the most dire of situations or removing single zombies quietly. The baseball bat would be used in more open areas where I can gain a proper swing while the crowbar would be used in more confine areas due to a smaller swing required and the option of using the spiked end for stabbing (also could be used for opening locked doors, crates etc)
Got a survival philosophy?
Not a philosophy but more a set of rules: stay quiet, keep moving, confront the undead only when necessary and always be willing to adapt to any situation.
Am I willing to hook up with other survivors?
Yes I would be as more number, the better chances of survival. However, I would would remain cautious as people are unpredictable in a crisis no matter how they appear.
Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of?
Most of my plan is from independent research on websites and forums such as this, tip and tricks have also been taken into account from movies/programs and games. In particular would be The Walking Dead, Zombieland and Highschool of the Undead.
