B.O.B contents from my uni flat

About Me:
Hi all, here is my gear, I'd apreciate any feedback. Enjoy
My circumstances have changed and for a few months my studies have been suspended, so i'm no longer living in london but in the midlands instead, and i'm surrounded by a lot of countryside.
If the SHTF I'd more than likely try to stay put, although i've planned for the need to bug out as well.

My Survival Plan- bugging out:
So let's assume I've had warning and it transpires that for some reason i need to leave the safety of my house in this suburb. This is what I already own and what I'd get ready to Bug Out on foot. Much of it already lives in a decent rucksack

Current Loadout.
My bob is designed with me needing everything in mind, i.e. going alone, just in case i do.
I've tested my BOB a few times, and I can comfortably go around 4 miles at a time before resting for 10 mins. In total i'd say between 20 and 30 miles a day.

My current location is surrounded by a lot of countryside, but here are the biggest city's distances from me.

Coventry-7 miles
Birmingham-15-20 miles
London- 100 miles
Manchester-100miles

Wearing:
-Jeans
-T-shirt
-Hoodie/waterproof coat (depending on weather)
-Folding knife on belt in pouch.
-Multi-tool on belt in pouch.
-Work boots (steel toe-capped, comfortable too)
-Depends on what other melee weapons are free, but I'd be either wearing the sword or have my new "Tw*t" on my back. I'll provide a picture shortly :)
-In my pockets i'd probably have a lighter, a couple of spliffs, My phone, spare battery, old back-up phone, my wallet, don't know what else, it depends on what the situation calls for. Maybe I should get a sneaky throwing knife...

B.O.B.

-Sleeping mat, 2-man tent + sleeping bag (all very light) attatched to outside of bag. I don't even know if i'll need it, so I may end up leaving it all. Depends on the situation.
Surprisingly, a lot of this fits into a small 3-pouch roll I have, which fits into the bottom of my bag with plenty of room to spare.

If I had my family dog (likely), I'd have to put in atleast 2 days worth of food and water for him. He's a very fit and active labrador (from good working gun dog stock of the working (field) breed of lab, which is fitter, and taller than the domestic breed), so would most likely be made to carry his own stuff. I've seen dog packs onlline, but it's only fair if he carries just his own food and water that he could comfortably manage, nobody elses.

Unfortunately, his temperment means he is very unlikely to hunt for me. Although he might, as he damn sure loves to chase anything that moves.
Given this, his intelligence and breeding i'd sure use him to go get my kills for me if i needed to hunt something! There's a lot of wildlife near me.

Weaponry

What I own:
-Big kitchen knife (I can make a sheath)
-Folding 6" knife with snug belt pouch (in pic above)
-Decorated, elaborate double-headed knife (see the pic above), a little under 50cm in length, not very decent metal, and might break, but it would surely do a lot of damage. No sheath.
-WW1 sword. Needs sharpening, but as it is would easily run somebody or something through. Belt sheath attatched.
-Hatchet
-2 Mag lights. one of the massive ones, and a slightly smaller one. Both capable of cracking a skull.
-Hand-made Club. Nuff said.
-Tw*t (pictures to follow soon enough)
- 80lb pistol crossbow, 13 bolts.

What I intend to get for Bug Out (misc):
- Semi-auto rifle, maybe two, ammo + accessories etc. Will probably be months away yet.
- Gerber Machette w/ saw back + belt attatchment
- Map of Northern France, maybe Europe (you never know)
-More swords + knives.

Bug-in
Supposing i decided to wait it out indoors, this is the equipment i would have in addition to what I've already mentioned. I intend to buy this before the SHTF.

-A few jerry cans of diesel for my 240v home generator.
-Signal flares (combustion and laser)
-Sand bags, probably a hundred to start with, then i'll try to figure out how many more i could do with.
-Dental kit (pick, mirror, etc. you can buy temporary tooth filler/dental cement)
-Body armour
-More food + water
-More gas for my camping cooker.
- 3-5 wind-up lanterns.

Growing food (Bug In).
-2 bags of planting soil, with fertilizer
-Lots of veg seeds. We have carrot, potatoe, various onion, rhubarb, cherry, apple, radish, lettuce and straweberry.
I Intend to get a lot more seeds soon.

I have several tarps, plus a huge polythene sheet which could all be used to collect rainwater.

The cupboards are always kept well-stocked, we have 1 fridge and 2 freezers, one of which is big and always full of mostly meat and fish. If my family who live nearby decided to hold up at our house with us, between us (including the several Kilos of rice i've purchased) we would easily have food to last a month, maybe two.

There's a stream litterally 3-4 minutes walk from my house, another 2 about 45 minutes walk away. We rarely have dry seasons, but when we do the streams never even nearly dry to my knowledge.

Me and firearms:

Here in the UK gun laws aren't as loose as in the US. It's not impossible to own a gun, but you have to show you're responsible, not crazy and have a purpose such as sport or pest control. Defence is not a legal reason to purchase a gun.
Given this, the most abundant type of gun on sale in the UK by far is the break-barrel shotgun. Automatic rifles aren't allowed.
Semi-auto rifles are in abundance, but they can only be rim-fire if they're semi-auto. Bolt-action rifles are everywhere, ranging from £40 for a second-hand one, to many, many (many) thousands for a top of the range one marketed at rich toffs.

I intend to apply for a licence to own a gun and take it to a range. As well as being lots of fun, it would be valuable training. Probably a while off yet though.

I'll probably be content with a single large caliblre pistol, but gay gun laws in the UK mean I can't own a pistol unless it's muzzle loading.
I could buy one second-hand semi-auto rifle with substantial ammo for less than £500. I might even buy one dirt cheap, some guns go for less than £100.
I doubt I'd go walking anywhere with them though, unless there was a proper zombie outbreak or law enforcement had collapsed.

Trade
We have an abundance of unused clothes, books, dozens of tools and various other things i'm sure we could use to trade with. On top of the many practical trade skills we could offer, i'm sure we could obtain things from other people.
We have a well-stocked drinks cupboard, and I've bought several 100ml bottles of vodka specifically for trade.
All things mentioned in the "End of the World Party" section above would also be open for trade if needed.

So, thanks for reading, any suggestions/comments/criticisms apreciated

zhunterd Ketamine! Sleep Meds! WHY? 8 Jan 29 2011, 11:33 AM EST by ZombieMaster1306

Why do you need animal tranquilizers(Ketamine), and sleep meds? Most likely in a total zombie outbreak, you will be super tired in a week, and will fall asleep at the drop of a dime.

you need to rethink your bug out bag a little.
