My Survival Plan

This is if the threat is serious and they are everywhere.

Get a weapon!... arm myself first before anything.
Second get my family to start gathering supplies and whatever we have.
Get my Dog and start calling up my friends.
Go to the gunshop which is about a 10 minute drive from my house.
Get enough weapons and ammo for everybody and stock up on things... shops are over the road so id get supplies then.
Go back to my house or one of the survivors house and make a temporary fortification.
Try contacting as many people within the area to see who is left.
Head to the school with all of our supplies as they have woodwork rooms, cooking rooms, computer rooms and so much equipment which could be used to barricade.
Once fortifications are made, once again try and make communications with as many people and the army base close by.
Once supplies are depleted, in the biggest and strongest cars, we will split the group in two (so it remains even and it wont be 1 or 2 pplz walking into a massive hoarde) and raid the major shopping centre close by.
Make explosives seeing as the school does have a science block and i do do chemistry :) im not the best :(

If i did get bitten, i would leave a note to my friends and family saying what happened and i am sorry...
i would strap explosives to my chest with a detonator used and grab a melee (melee so i wouldnt leave a gun out there) I would tell one person and give them the detonator... when they see i have been killed and there are alot of zombies on me... BOOOM!!!
...
Or take the easy way out and tell every1 im infected, tie me up... wait for me to turn and bang :)

I don't think a weapon should be first on your mind. Also, for raiding the gun shop, don't you think that other people will have thought of that already? And I'm sure they won't share. Apart from that, good.

Food. Go to a place with food that no one else would think about. If I was at school when all hell broke loose, I would go to the canteen, plenty of food there, granted it ain't very good. Or if you haven't beforehand, first thing would be to get supplies together. A sleeping bag would be good, don't know if you mentioned that before.]
Same with getting a weapon. Get one from a place people don't know about/don't expect. Think about people you know/know of that have access to a firearm. They get killed, it's yours. Or, best solution would just be to buy your own. If you can't/don't want to, read up on improvised weapons, etc. Also, get a hatchet/tomahawk. You know, a small ax for cutting kindling. That is the most important tool.
If you do get a firearm, I would recommend an air rifle. You don't need a firearms license for one of them, they never (or seldom) need cleaning, and can be as powerful as a real rifle. I've got quite a high end one, could take down a human, no problem. The only problem is that they are generally single shot (fire, open, reload) if they are spring loaded, require gas if they are gas powered.

You need to prepare beforehand. It's no good saying "when the threat is serious, I will..." because the end of that sentence is eventually "die." Stockpile food, water, weapons, first aid kit. Increase the security of your home, with things like hurricane shutters, proper internal doors, better locks.

Buy some small home-use fire extinguishers. One water, one CO2 or powder for the kitchen.

Prepare. Don't wait for things to go wrong.

That's another thing you must do.
But remember, don't over prepare. You can only prepare so much. To quote Independence Day: "We don't yet know enough about what we are dealing with to make any kind of intelligent judgment."
If you prepare completely for a certain scenario, Murphy's law states that that will not happen. Don't assume anything. Stockpile food and weapons, but don't build a house thinking the zombies will be fast, weak and unable to climb, when they will probably end up being fast, strong and able to climb.
The general consensus is that they will be reanimated bodies, but all medical science says this is impossible. I predict they will be more like completely insane humans with no clue what is going on, who they are, or anything really. It could also be a cancer which causes it. I can't explain how I reached that conclusion, as I thought of it at two am one time, went back to bed, woke up and couldn't remember how I had thought of that. It was a valid reason, though.
Don't learn to aim just for the head.
Maybe a cancer will form a new brain, a working brain, which travels into the...spleen.
When it happens, trap one and study it with extreme caution. Then get the **** out of there.
