About Me: When I started thinking way too much about zombies: When I saw Carriers, and played Left 4 Dead What started my zombie fixation:Same as above Favorite zombie books:Zombie survival guide, World War Z, Cell Favorite zombie movies: Carriers, zombieland Things to read: I recommend you read some field manuals. I have read Close Combat and Hand to Hand Fighting for the US Marine Corps, it was really cool Survival Plan: My “handle” should you look for me on the radio waves or web: Mr Brightside My location:The Outer Banks of North Carolina. Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? Local Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else?Home or all around my County If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there?Pickup truck, maybe ambulance Got anyone I want to take with me?Friends, Family, Pets How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route?Attempt Communication, but its not essential How am I planning to get food and water?Raiding, Growing, have backup supplies ready. What’s my weapon of choice? Remington 870 Marine Magnum with ghost ring sights and a non-standard vent rib. a flashlight is also just below the end of the barrel to the right a little. That's a 12 gauge pump-action shotgun, for anyone who doesn't know. Got a survival philosophy? Your survival and the survival of your closest group members is the most important thing to consider. Am I willing to hook up with other survivors?Yes, but only people who I know can be trusted. Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? Carriers, Zombie Survival Guide, Left 4 Dead. My more detailed plan My family is a three person, one dog family. I plan on going to auto maintenance garage and use any remaining cars to barricade the building. I will have a few other people and dogs with us too. That gives me around 13 people and 5 dogs. Any unusable pats will be dumped in front of weak points in fortifications. Two entrances one in front and one in back, the back being a heavy metal door. The font is the main garage door with some welded metal on it. The really bad thing about this is that the garage is right off the main highway so there will be alot of survivor encounters, some may be unwelcome, and where there are survivors, there are zombies so...... yeah. Notes for teenage Ramboes At the age of 14 I am a teenager, yes. But my plan does not include a katana, a mythical helicopter and the ability to pick up a weapon and automatically know how to clean, reload and fire it. I highly recommend that we plan for things we have, not things we WANT. I do not plan on looting a gun or surplus store. That is a great way to die. The Vietnam veteran owner is likely waiting behind the counter, ready to shoot the first thing that moves. While a machete may work, it may take multiple hacks for a teenager with an average build. I recommend that you purchase something that was designed for combat (example = ASP rod). Get a job as soon as you are able, you can purchase equipment. Playing Left 4 Dead may give you ideas, but it will also fill your head with delusions of grandeur. Plus I wouldn't want to use a meele weapon, or rather the need to use one. If Zack is a ways off, shoot him, if he is a long ways off don't bother. And on the topic of melee weapons, if there are more than one or two Zachs, then don't go charging in like you have a PCP induced death-wish.
