About Me: When I started thinking way too much about zombies: Never I am a machinist, both general and CNC. I have held an FFL for gunsmithing for 30 years ( third generation) but rarely do any , anymore, except for close family and even closer friends. The Missus is a Veterinary Technician. We live out in the boonies. There are only a few neighbors for several miles, and our property is mostly surrounded by state, national forest and private timber company land. We farm part of our 160 acres, fruit trees on about 27 acres, a 20 acres veggie crops, the rest is forest that we selectively cut, for both firewood and to sell to the pulpmill for paper. What started my zombie fixation: No fixation, just fun to speculate Favorite zombie book: None. Although I do like " I am Legend " though its really a vampire story. Tried to read Max Brooks Zombie survival Guide ( what a load of trash) Favorite zombie movie: Dawn of the dead, original and the one made in 2004 or whenever, with Sarah Polly & Vign Rhames Favorite quote in any zombie movie: My Survival Plan: My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web: Bear , My kids and grandkids call me GrampaBear & PapaBear My location: N.Wis. Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? No Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? Staying put If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? Got anyone I want to take with me? My kids and grand-kids will be heading to me How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? Shortwave and CB How am I planning to get food and water? I have a well and a spring on my property, growing and hunting food What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? 12 gauge. have several, plus many rifles and pistols Got a survival philosophy? Do unto others before they do unto me. Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? Heck yeah, man is a social creature Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? Nope, just common sense. MY CARRY ALONG TRAVEL BOB: After it suddenly dawned on me, while visiting my family, that the safety of my home, my defense kit( firearms etc.) was 800 miles away . HOW DO I GET BACK? I vowed to remedy that flaw in my plans. Due to the extended range of my truck ( about 1500 miles give or take a few) I have no problem making it with the fuel I have. However most of the main roads will probably be impassable. So we will have to go back roads and perhaps at times off road. We will probably spend several days getting home. I decided to make up a BOB to pack into my truck when the wife and I travel any distance. This includes camping gear, food and supplies, firearms and ammo, This will all lock into my bed boxes which are watertight and bolted to the bed. Pictures of most my gear will be forthcoming.( Pics so far suck. Ill get better) Wife's and my CCW sidearms Mine: Taurus 617, 7 shot .357 mag (picture coming) Wifes: Rossi R461, 6 shot .357 mag (picture coming) FIREARMS: My Colt 1911 " Genevieve"(below) field stripped with both target and Comp barrels.
