They were blank, duplicates, useless or just plain wrong.

And no. If you are following links to dead pages, please tell me or another moderator about them, and we will delete or redirect as appropriate.

Most of the information survives, look in The Survival Guide

Apologies in advance, because I am not trying to be contradictory or difficult here (legitimately)... I would simply like a sincere answer. When I returned to this site with all of the pages I had bookmarked roughly 18 months ago, nearly 75% of those pages were deleted by PedroAsani. Were _all_ of these pages "duplicates, useless or just plain wrong"? They all seemed useful enough to me for them to be the only pages I chose to bookmark.

Here's the list of pages I'm referring to (in their pre-revision states):

http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Logistical%2FSchool+Help+Page+%5BMath%5D/revision/27

http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/General+Training+and+Drills/revision/10

http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Personal+Survival+Plans/revision/123

http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/The+New+Guide/revision/28

http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Basic%2FIntermediate+Skills/revision/24

http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Skill+Training+Articles/revision/15

http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Survival+Skills+%26+Guides/revision/18

If it doesn't take too much of your time, please feel free to post references to where this information has been reconstituted, and I will update my links. If you've removed this content simply because you feel that it's "just plain wrong", I would contend solely in light of the massive amount of content erased that this may have been a heavy-handed approach to separating the wheat from the chaff.

Just my two cents. I'm all for clean moderation tactics, but to have one user (even if he IS the most influential and contributes the most time and content to the site) removing pages en masse without providing any 301-redirection to the content deemed more apropos, and without an explanation of any sort, is a real detractor from an otherwise awesome website.

Sadly, we can't do any "proper" redirection. But I will go through the list and give you a list of links shortly.

Awesome, dude! Thanks!

If you needed any help with redirection, and you have the ability to post an "htaccess" file (which may or may not be possible on the wetpaint platform you're using)... I'd be happy to contribute my experience and efforts to assist.

Extended explanation: Each page we have on the site requires some form of maintenance. These things are not (should not be) written, then left to decompose. New ideas will come up, information becomes more relevant, less relevant. Changes and updates are needed.

Each page we have therefore requires effort to be put in, to maintain is usefulness on the site. So, where things might seem borderline useful, I have had to make a decision as to whether we should spend time and effort on it. Sometimes the answer is yes, but sometimes no.

School Help Page: was one such instance. Whilst I will fervently agree that maths and science skills are going to be crucial in rebuilding society, this is not the place to learn them. And post-Z, we aren't going to be online, so there is little point having them here. Aside from that, it was one long ramble that needed an overhaul to make it truly coherent. Time and effort would outweigh the gain.

General Training and Drills: The name is the clue. It is a page that lists a few basics on a wide, disjointed spread of topics. If you check The Survival Guide (link at the end) you will see we are compiling more in-depth pages, on specific sections that this page covers. The First Aid page (yes, a lot is still under construction. Please bear with us, and wear a hard-hat.) is definitely more verbose on the subject. In time, all the pages in there will be.

Personal Survival Plans: I sorted this whole section into a new, more organised list. Please check the User Survival Plans section (link at the end)

The New Guide: Again, it is one page, dealing with a wide range of topics. The writing is kludgy (a result of multiple authors who have different writing styles) and again, it has a disjointed feel. The Survival Guide section will again be the place to look.

Basic/Intermediate Skills: Ditto. As an aside, I don't really see the need for some skills to be listed as basic/intermediate/advanced. I can do things that some see as an "advanced" skill, whilst I see it as a "basic". A skill is a skill is a skill. You can either do it, or not.

Skill Training Articles: Back to The Survival Guide. Aside, I don't really see us teaching much on gunsmithing over the net. People want to learn, they can get off their arse and learn.

Survival Skills: Another list of broad topics.

We are trying to get away from pages that cover multiple topics: Follow the Wikipedia model. If you talk about two different flashlights, guess what? Three pages. Flashlights, Model A, and Model B. Link as appropriate.

List of Links (Follow the box on the left side of the screen.)

Like I said, The Survival Guide is still being built. Right now it mostly consists of the guts of the previous guide, with some sprinkles of new pages. We should have it looking professional-ish soon...ish.

Yeah, wetpaint won't allow that. The best we could do would be to link the new page in the old one. But then if we rename the new one, we have to fix links.

Better to delete pages and tell people to use the box on the left.
