Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? I think it's best to plan for several contingencies.
Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? Depends on the situation. If there's enough warning and there's a slow start, I'll head out early. If the spread is too fast, resulting in an initial panic and rush to evacuate, I'll probably stay at home until the stampede subsides and/or it becomes clear that staying will result in my being pinned down by zack. Then it's time to travel. The destination depends on accessibility and available resources, but I like the idea of moving to a colder climate with less population.
If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? Drive or walk. Don't have a boat and can't fly.
How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? I have a hand-crank short wave radio
How am I planning to get food and water? Scavenge, hunt & gather, if it's possible to settle down long enough will farm.
What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? Survival knife, machete, baseball bat ... I should really learn how to shoot, though

Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? More like a combination of girl scouts/boy scouts (2 brothers), Romero movies, Max Brooks' survival guide, the novel Day by Day Armageddon, & the experience of having to be self-reliant at a fairly early age,
