When I started thinking way too much about zombies: I was 8.
What started my zombie fixation:The realization that either genetic engineering ornatural genetic mutations could cause a zombie plague.
Favorite zombie book:"World War Z" by Max Brooks Favorite zombie movie: George A. Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" (remake) Favorite quote in any zombie movie:"I could really use a Twinkie."- Zombieland
My Survival Plan:
My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web: no comment

This thread is to provide suggestions as to how I can improve my bug out bag. Right now it contains: 1. A flashlight. 2. Sixteen spare batteries (for the flashlight). 3. A change of clothes. 4. A pocketknife, 5. A manual on safely avoiding various species of bears. 6.Hard candy (That stuff is safe to eat for years). 7. Some bandages. Saving up money to add: 1. A battery operated microwave. 2. A small bike pump. 3. A spool of fishing wire. 4. Gauze bandages. All carried in: A Single strap hiking backpack.

loose #1&2 and get a wind up or shake light (preferable one with a radio) [Wallmart $20] #5 do you live in an area with bears? If so keep it #6 eat the hard candy, and get a couple of packages of jerky, or breakfast bars (Wallmart $4)
The bottom list should be tossed, the only thing worth while is the gauze, but an extra T-shirt can work just as good.
I would save and add:
Small first aid kit (Wallmart $8) [includes various bandages, instruction manual, medicines] 1 to 2 water bottles (Wallmart $5.00 each or less) compass (Wallmart $4) map (free online from your state) rain poncho (Wallmart $3) fire making tool (as Maricely has stated) (Dollar Store $1 for 5 disposable lighters) 50 feet of rope (Dollar Store $1) Can opener (Wallmart 2 for $2 - old military style) Bar of soap in a zip-lock bag (from your bathroom and kitchen when your mom isn't looking) Lint from the cloths drier in a zip-lock bag (free also/ and it helps make a fire quickly)
That's all I can think of now.

Why bash BP? They ****** up, so did Exxon, Clinton, Bush, Obama, me, your daddy, your daddy's daddy, etc. Everybody screws up from time to time, people only take notice when they see pelicans covered in oil saying WTF!?!?
I just went to Ft. Myers and didn't see any tar balls or slick.
Something else, I strongly doubt anybody will join you NRRM. Maybe you should consult the founder of the Supah Dupah Squad, or the Super Spy Patrol!

Sorry to bash bp, and I admit the nrrm is a bad idea, but WTF is super spy patrol? It sounds like one of those cheap monthly subscriptions that comes with fourth grade book orders. (No offense to super spy patrol and scholastic. Okay... maybe a little offense to scholastic.)

What if your car dies on you? What if you crash? What if the roads are blocked? What if the gates are locked? What if the place is on fire? What if the shopkeepers don't want you taking their property? What if somebody beat you to it? What if a violent, armed person beat you to it?

Like I have said in other threads, This is for only one of my plans. If the car dies, I will continue on foot. This plan counts the shopkeepers being dead.If they won't give me their property, and they are alive, I will Make due with what I have until I can scavenge better supplies, or, if they try to kill me, I will either attempt to kill them, or I will take cover and try to get to a safer distance away from them. Same goes if someone beat me to it.
