My location: Long Island, NY
Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? The grammar in this question is jacked, but I know what you're getting at. My plan is not dependent on zombies; it's modifiable for any disaster situation (hurricane, flood, earthquake, etc.)
Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? Best case scenario, I'll be bugging in until the situation is stable enough to bug out. If my immediate family is too scattered during the Panic, I MAY be bugging out ASAP.
If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? I don't have a BOL yet; I'm still working out the details. Will update as soon as I have a solid plan.
Got anyone I want to take with me? Yes, a group of at least 5 (including myself) who live and work extremely close range to each other. During my bugging in period, I hope to collect anywhere from 3-10 additional people. (The "additional" group members live in various boroughs of NYC - so it is accepted they may or may not be able to get out and reach us during the bugging in period.)
How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? My group is trained and capable of being self-sufficient. We may stay a small group of five or collect all additional people, increasing the group count to around 15 . After that, we will accept only people we encounter by chance who accept the group's code of conduct.
What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? My weapons of choice are mostly blades - machetes and kukris, to be more accurate. Instead of reloading, there's just re-sharpening, which is easy with a whetstone (or three) and some mineral oil (in my BOB). I have a large blade collection - not novelty, but survival blades, already sharpened to perfection. The closest member of my group (who I both live and work with, so there is a vast majority chance we will be together when the SHTF) has a Mossberg shotgun at the tattoo shop that we own and a .9 mm pistol at the house. He has a variety of different types of ammo for each gun at both locations. I am by no means the gun expert -- he is, and that's as detailed as I can get for the guns. I am the blade expert, and am experienced in Arnis/Escrima.
Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? Yes, provided they have some type of skill set and/or supplies to offer. If they have nothing to offer, but are in need of joining up to survive, they must be willing to defer to the group's code of conduct and follow it at all times.
Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? Not particularly, but some of my ideas were sparked while reading and thinking about the plotline of The Walking Dead.
