The main problem with zombies is that there is no way they could exist. Isn't there?
The facts are zombies will most likely be created in a lab, designed as a bio-weapon to eliminate enemies and terrorists. The factors to create zombies already exist. The fact the humans die after being bitten by a zombie is basically true, it would be the virus keeping bare minimum functioning. Organs like the heart, lungs and liver would be shut down and converted into an energy source,so the human would be declared decided from lack of vital activity. same for most of the brain, so you don;t need just a head shot, the bullet must pass through the upper region of the brain stem, severing contact between the brain and the body. In all reality the only things that it would need is the muscle structure and central Nerva system. These factors mean that the only chance of a cure is something that kills the virus, and would have to be administered before the virus reaches the brain or spinal cord. The speed and intelligence of the zombie will degrade over time, so they would start fast and relatively intelligent, but as time passes and more tissue is converted into an energy supply, it will lose it's advantages. As you can see this would cause a worldwide problem due to the fact the authorities, being thrown will not recognise the threat in time and may resort to desperate measures, for example a nuclear strike. On the subject of zombie longevity, the more convertible mass, the longer the zombies live. Basically the fatter a zombie, the longer it lasts.

Weapons against zombies

On your choice of weapons, the most effective would be an assault rifle, preferably M16A4, but that's my opinion. To best combat the threat of zombies you can't rely on only one weapon, but remember you have to carry them around. I recommend a melee weapon, like an axe or crowbar, along with several knives with a main firearm like the assault rifle and one or two pistols that use the same ammo, eg browning 9mm. the knives would be more for throwing or human targets because close range you want to use a long blade like a light sword or katana. the assault rifle is a good choice due to the fact you can use it for sniping or as a machine gun. the pistols are better when a zombie gets close, but not too close, or when your searching a building and going round corners. Using a bow is stupid unless it's for sporting purposes. The arrows are long and sharp, and it normally is more expensive then a gun. You need professional training because there are a lot of factors that affect the shot, and the time/energy needed is to great. With the same time it takes to shoot 10 arrows you could fire 500 to 1000 shots from a assault rifle, making it much more effective.

Anti-zombie Armor



When buying or making armor to protect yourself or others from zombies you must take into consideration what threats you will be facing. Zombies can't shoot you, but people can so bullet proof would be useful. Against zombies you need large areas of coverage and Strong enough so they don't get broken or torn off. The picture to the left is only half decent because while his head neck and upper torso are covered the armor on his arms and legs is inadequate and the material underneath is to easy to rip apart, there is also a large area around the waist with no amour. A gas mask is normally a good idea in case of airborne infection or gas. In the case of the virus being contact strain only means an assault helmet should be worn to stop risk of infection from blood spatter.




The Future of Anti-Zombie Armour?


Kevlar and riot suits (see above) currently dominate the world of body amour. However with increased threats from armour piecing rounds, landmines and road side bombs, the current standard of armour is to say the least lacking. However the possibility of a full body metal suit is seeming more and more feasible. Of course due to the nature of the world, it seems possible that it could be made by a company that then sells it to every army on the planet. If this were to happen then the armies of tomorrow could look like something out of star wars or metroid. Who knows, in 10 or 20 years a modern army could look like this! (see to left)

Armour like this is feasible and would defiantly do a better job of protecting you from zed's then a riot suit. As for raiders, well that's a bit depressing if they happen to have anti-tank weaponry on them.

A war with zombies is really inevitable, the only variable factor is when it will happen.
