About Me: When I started thinking way too much about zombies: When I began playing Half Life What started my zombie fixation: When I watched "Zombies In Plain English" on youtube Favorite zombie book: WWZ Favorite zombie movie: 28 Days Later Favorite quote in any zombie movie: 'If it were a conversation, it would have gone something like this: "What about your master?" "What about yours?" "Fuck 'em!"' My Survival Plan: My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web: The Night FoxMy location: Continue moving, till I reach my father's batch. Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? No. I would head there either way, however if they had not yet reached my town, it would make things a hell of a lot easier. Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? Well, it depends if you count my father's batch as home... If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? Any means possible, but preferably not on foot, in a discreet but powerful vehicle. Got anyone I want to take with me? Just two of my friends, both of which could be helpful as well as me not wanting them to die. Barack Obama could be useful, though. Befriend him and then get on Air Force One. How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? Probably the latter, but I may try to build a radio (should probably do that sometime), and by that I mean a HAM radio, not a regular. I'll be taking my shortwave with me. How am I planning to get food and water? Depends on where I am, probably by looting in the cities, stealing from farms out in the countryside, or hunting everywhere else. What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? A really big gun. Nah, I don't want to have to carry that round all the time. I would say the .22 I'm probably getting, but until then my air rifle: 1000 fps (about the speed of a regular rifle), .177 cal, I've got plenty of ammo for it and it requires no cleaning (well, not much). Unfortunately it is at my father's batch. So, until I can get to it I will use any weapon I can get my hands on, or improvise (American military improvised munitions handbook :). Though, that probably won't help too much. Ah well, I'll find something. I would also take my knife, but that isn't really good enough for killing, it would be more symbolic or for practical uses (i.e skinning an animal), or if necessary killing myself when I'm about to be enslaved. Got a survival philosophy? Yeah, we're all f**ked. That and that I would prefer to die my own hand instead of being enslaved by a zombie. But I would prefer to die in battle then kill myself. Also, I want to die in battle, or doing something as opposed to dieing an old, crippled man. Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? Perhaps, eventually. Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? No. Me: Well, I'm The Night Fox, that is my alias throughout the net, I don't tell people my real name generally, and I plan to keep it that way. Much of my time is spent on the net, web surfing and playing computer games. I also read a lot, both fiction and non fiction, mainly non fiction recently as I (not purely due to preparing for Z-day) feel I would like to be prepared for everything. These books are usually about construction of things, anything from blacksmithing to radios to shelters, and survival. I'm a writer, I spend time writing most days and I focus mainly on a couple of fan-fictions that I am writing (a couple for Morrowind, a couple for Half Life) but I also have a few completely original ones as well. I am also into astronomy, got a telescope, but it's seldom used now as I live in the city now, and am obsessed with aliens and 2012 apocalypse theories (both space related and not). I am not convinced that the apocalypse will occur in 2012, but the idea is interesting, and I plan to be prepared in case it does. Regarding Z-day, I know not if it will happen in my lifetime, or at all. I hope for some sort of disaster like that, not because I'm some gung-ho preteen who thinks he could fight off all the zombies and save the world, but purely because I want something exciting to happen in my life. I want adventure, I want to fight. It may sound immature, but I want adventure. I'm sick of this bullsh*t of modern society. If Z-day happens, I, like everyone, hope to be one of the survivors, but I have come to accept death. If I die, I would be fine with that, as long as I died fighting. I like AK-47's. Best rated assault rifle: requires little cleaning, widely available, cheap to produce and relatively powerful and very tough. Could run it over with a tank and it probably still work (well, not sure of that last one). If Z-day happens, I would love to get my hands on one of them, but the odds of that are slim to nil. I love this photo. That is courage. The world needs more people like this. That's why nothing every gets done, no one wants to be first, no one wants to be alone in standing up to the tanks of oppression. "Yeah, I want to protest, but I don't want to start it. I'll just join when you already have two thousand people on your side, so that if all goes sour I'll be fine." My spiel on respect: I'm sick of being told by people (teachers, authority figures, deans, etc) to respect people (teachers, authority figures, deans, my elders, my equals, etc). Why should I respect them? They have given me no reason to respect them. I can act respectful of most people, but only if I like the person. I will listen to peoples ideas, and perhaps consider and take on their thoughts, but if I actually respect them, I would think about it much differently. People can not demand my respect. I don't respect people just because I should. For example, I don't respect Barack Obama. What has he done to make me respect him? Sure, he's president, and a pretty good one at that, but I still don't respect him. Judas Priest, Don't Have To Be Old To Be Wise: I've had enough of being programmed, and told what to do. Let's get one thing straight, I'll choose my fate and it's got nothing to do with you. Think you're brave? Could you bear this: A horde of zombies is coming your way. There is no escape, you are surrounded. The zombies moan, making your inevitable death seem so much closer. One rakes you across the belly, your intestines flow out and hit the ground with a splat. You are knocked to the ground, already screaming for your mother (everyone always screams for their mother when they are about to die). A few zombies grab your arm, and begin tearing at it, biting into the flesh, your blood spraying out. Before you are dead they begin to feed upon your intestines and liver, riping the latter out partially and tearing bits off. You can feel all of this, an unbelievable pain. Three take hold of your leg and begin to bite and rip it off, eventually succeeding, as you see your femur, a small hunk of it remaining. Dirt and stones fill your wounds. A more intelligent zombie picks up a rock and begins knocking it against your head in an attempt to break the skull open. Another gouges out your eye, eating it before it has fully detached. The last thing you see before you die is a few zombies ripping apart your ribcage and feeding upon your heart. Z-Day Plans Firstly: If/When Z-day happens, I have no real weapons to take with me except for my rifle (mentioned ahead) and my hatchet. All other weapons I will improvise or find. Plan 1: Get out of the city with the two friends (mentioned above) if possible, alone if not, in any way possible. Head for my father's batch: a three hour drive, several days probably on foot. I will try not to go on foot; slow, hard to escape from enemies. Preferably in a car or motorbike, but a bike or horse would be fine. For food, I would steal it and hunt farm animals. (not sure how...stealing would be easier) Once getting to the batch, I would survive by hunting with my rifle which is over there, and fighting off any undead, of which I guess there would be few. I would get water from the rain, which flows to a water tank. I would lose all power most likely, but then I would just open up the water tank and get water from there directly. There is a generator there, but I would use that in moderation. I would stay there until the crisis was resolved or I had to leave. If I had to leave (overrun by zombies) I would head out into the bush and live out there. I have little experience out there, though, so I may or may not survive long, and I would prefer not to have to. I would also try to stay in contact via radio to any other survivors: possible allies or help. Plan 2: Set up a stronghold in the city with any weapons I can muster. Collect up survivors that can help me. Fight off any undead This plan is for if most die, not if the place is absolutely crawling with zombies, and are always surrounded. In that circumstance: Plan 3: Get the hell out of there. Plan 4: Suicide if there is no chance of survival or escape. Plan 5: Drift. If the cities have pretty much been abandoned, there isn't much life (or death) around, then I could just drift through the cities, finding whatever food I can and always remaining on the move, except for when I'm asleep, of course. I will add more as I plan them. Quotes I like to post quotes. I have a bunch of quotes on my wall, a section of amusing ones, and some serious ones. From time to time I may post them here. Some may not have names, though, as when I write them down I don't usually put down the name. "If it's not nailed down, it's mine. If I can pry it loose, it's not nailed down!" "I am not a number, I am a free man!" - The prisoner. "Taking my gun because I might shoot someone is like cutting my tongue out because I might yell 'Fire!' in a crowded theatre." - Peter Venetoklis "Being able to break security doesn't make you a hacker any more than being able to hot-wire a car makes you an automotive engineer." "I've had enough of being programmed, and told what to do. Let's get one thing straight, I'll choose my fate and it's got nothing to do with you." - Judas Priest "Give me Liberty, or give me Death!" "The difference between a democracy and a dictatorship is that in a democracy you vote before taking orders, and in a dictatorship you don't waste time voting." "Hey, I INVENTED 'it's not you, it's me'. If it's anyone, it's me." - George Costanza. "In the end, it was not guns or bombs that destroyed the enemy, but that humblest of all gods creatures...the Tyrannosaurus Rex" - Futurama, The Scary Door "We have endured these chafing bonds for eons, yet a single moment of further servitude seems intolerable! Let this war end with either total victory or our annihilation. No further compromise shall we allow. We take our stand beside you, here on this miserable rock. Unity of purpose, the shattering of common shackles, a single road we tread. Your song we sing and shall sing for eternity, no matter the consequences of this struggle."
