After about 6 months of use i'm pleased with it.It has been my backpack for the last semester carrying books and gear. As usual with Maxpedition materials and build quality are excellent apart from one somewhat minor detail which i'll get into. The netting material covering the ergonomic padding for your back started to come apart though i'm not sure why it may have been an isolated defect in just my pack or perhaps I got it caught on something. I've never heard of this problem on any reviews so i'm guessing my incident is not typical. But the pack has generally held up well and its more of an aesthetic problem because before the padding looked really cool and uniform prior. It also wont quite fit my 17" laptop due to its odd triangle shape but its that unique shape it gets alot of positive attention. The shoulder strap is plenty wide and it even comes with a small counter strap to help secure itif you were to use it on a long hike or something. Though for me I didn't use it that extra strap and Maxpedition thought ahead and put a small outside netted pocket for the extra strap to keep it from dangling about :). The organizational capability was somewhat lacking. That could have been corrected by adding extra pouches to the mollie coving the outside of the pack. Though for me I wasn't wanting an overly tactical look. So thats why next semester I'm going with the Kodiak which includes a better organizational compartment, It wasn't out for another month or so until after classes started last time so I went with the Monsoon It's up to you and what your looking for but both have enough space for a day pack the Kodiak being a bit smaller at only 1100 Cu and the Monsoon being just above 1600 Cu. Pick between those two as they are the best of the Gearslinger line and i'm sure you'll be pleased. |

I'm curious if your planning on using it as a BOB or what its purpose will be.

Teaching a new class next year and I have to bring entirely different material I want to keep my gear organized. I will be having to change classrooms and I am toying with the idea of having all my gear for each class in a seperate bag I dont know yet I have all summer to work on it.
