Kukri Macheete
Aug 27 2010, 9:40 PM EDT
I am also a fan of the Kukri and I found a good one on Cold Steel's website, however, I found the exact same thing but for less money on budk.com. I also plan on buying cold steel's Trench Hawk Tomahawk which can also be found on budk for $22 less. They have a huge selection of whatever sharp object you are looking for.I don't have any guns as of yet either but soon.... very soon! |

Actually, i don't care for the Cold Steel kukris. Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against them in terms of quality or anything, they seem to be great products, but for my own personal preference it's just an aesthetics thing. Their kukris are too curved on the back edge for my tastes. Note that the one pictured on my profile has a relatively straight back edge that comes to a distinct angle. This better facilitates the addition of saw teeth, gut hooks and so forth. Actually, Cold Steel used to make two models that were shaped the way I like, but I believe they're no longer in production. That's just my personal opinion and, as they say, your mileage may vary. (o: LOL |

I was looking on budk last night and they have ones that you are speaking of and they come in a pair with belt and sheath for them. I wanna say they were $20.

"I was looking on budk last night and they have ones that you are speaking of and they come in a pair with belt and sheath for them. AKA junk. http://www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=1-120&name=Gurkha+Kukri <-- way better. :) |

I'm a cold steel fan myself but I think you might be right. Didn't look into them much because of the fact that you get two for the price of the one cold steel kukri macheete. Also going to get the cold steel trench hawk tomahawk. |

"Unless we are talking surplus you will get exactly what you pay for.I'm a big fan of you get what you pay for which is why it's taking me so damn long to get the supplies that I need. They are all so damn expensive but in my mind that means they'll last a long time. |

For example I bought a cold steel two-handed bush machete for $20 and it works great. So there are exceptions to the rule which is why it is important to test. |

"Did you buy directly from cold steel?"I used a BudK catalogue ^_^ But that was 6 years ago. I recently bought a two-handed Panga machete (it looked enough like a Naginata that the Mall Ninja I had chained in my basement begged for it) and it was of lesser quality. Steel was thicker, handle felt cheaper, and it had this jagged, chainsawlike edge. |
