About Me:
Name: Dakota
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 230 lbs
BMI: 9% (just to show that I'm not a fat body)
Bio: I have been somewhat obsessed with preparedness since I was a kid. My parents would tell me I was paranoid because I would sleep with a knife under my pillow when I was a child. I was in the United States Marine Corps for the past 2 years and I give full credit to the Marine Corps for making me who I am today. I was medically discharged after being diagnosed with Stage 1B Testicular Cancer. I am about 3 months cancer free at the time of typing this (20121001) and am currently kicking some serious cancer ass. I am an EMT and I work on a farm. My plans for the future are to reenlist in the Marine Corps and continue my career in MARSOC (Marine Special Operations Command) and start kicking in doors (OOHRAH). I am a writer here on the site. My specialties are improvised weapons made of everyday items. Check out my thread entitled: "adams-usmc's wonderful weaponized Wednesday." Where every Wednesday I make a very effective weapon to combat the undead out of things that you can obtain yourself. I am HUGE into fitness and working out. Everyday I wake up at 0530 and run 6-8 miles and then come back and do my daily workout routine which usually consists of 10 max sets of pull ups, 10 max sets of push ups, 10 max sets of sit ups, 10 times up the 40' climbing rope, and 100 yds of tire flips with my 500lb tire. I am an expert shot with rifles and pistols and have been around firearms since I was a small child. I got my first gun (.22 chipmunk) when I was 2 years old. That's just a little bit of info on the guy behind the gun.
Hobbies: Fitness, competitive archery, hunting, fishing, shooting, tactical skills training, running, bushido martial arts, jujitsu, knife making, forging, weapon fabrication, smashing stuff, rock climbing, and much more.
Skills related to survival: Farming, tactical operations, reconnaissance, marksmanship, 5 years experience in trapping, hunting, survival training, certain....other skills... that I have acquired through the years that lend a tactical hand.
Other skills:Carpentry, construction, metal working, knowing dozens of useful knots, mechanic work, etc.

What started my zombie fixation:watching numerous zombie movies.
Favorite zombie book:Tie between World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide.
Favorite zombie movie: Way too many, but I really like Dawn of The Dead. (The newer one)
Favorite quote in any zombie movie:"Just gonna take a little off the top."

My Survival Plan:
My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web:
My location:Indiana
Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere?: Anywhere, but mostly near my home.
Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else?: Staying at home until I need more supplies or need to bug out.
If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? : Heavily modified M35A2 "Deuce and a half" 2.5 ton truck that has been fully armored. It's not exactly fuel efficient but it will smash through anything you put in front of it, it will carry tons (literally) of supplies, and it will stop a .30 caliber bullet. Whats not to love? :)
Got anyone I want to take with me? : A few people that I deeply trust...and my Dog.
How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? : I will try to stay to myself and my close group a lot, but will welcome the survivors who I believe will be a good contribution to our group.
How am I planning to get food and water?: Use my stockpile and then farm (during the right time of year) and have raid parties to gather food and supplies. I will purify water from the stream by home for water.
What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? : Firearm: Ruger 10/22 with several 50 rd. drums, bump fire stock, iron sights, and THOUSANDS of rounds of ammunition. I have SEVERAL other firearms ranging from rifles to shotguns to handguns but I will use the firearm only when absolutely necessary. Otherwise I will use my custom melee weapons also only when necessary. Afterall, the mind is the best weapon. I prefer survival to combat.
Got a survival philosophy? : Only the strong survive. I blaze my own path and deal with my own consequences.
Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? : I used to think that I wouldn't join other survivors, but being with other survivors expands the range of what our group can do and accomplish. So yes, definitely.
Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of?: It is largely based on my time in The United States Marine Corps where I was 0300 (infantry). My plan has been shaped throughout the years of my preparation and in my opinion is nearing perfection.

First knifeFirst Knife I made (I was 17)

Predator Fixed BladeMy personal survival blade "The Predator." I made it out of 3/16" 1095 HC steel. It is 14" overall length with a 9" cutting edge.

Timber spikeMy take on the ultimate melee zombie weapon. It is 40" overall length with a head that has two 3" spikes that extend in either direction. This head is made of 1/4" 1095 HC steel and held in place by 2 bolts that are passed through the body (1" black pipe) and through the head...and have been welded in place. The base features a 4" railroad spike that can be used as a prying tool and as a spear. The whole thing weighs only 3 lbs.

hi, that competition sounds really interesting and I have a few questions about it.

Is it over? Where did it happen? What is the page (or w/e it is) called?
Do you find this valuable?
