When I started thinking way too much about zombies: When i realized how cool they are:P What started my zombie fixation: Games Favorite zombie book: Only read one so my favorite, and also most hated is WWZ. Its an audio book, does it count? Favorite zombie movie: Zombieland Favorite quote in any zombie movie: I like this one "nuke them till they glow, so you can shoot them in the dark" My Survival Plan: My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web: Yes My location: Croatia, Istria Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? Partialy. Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? To my BOL, but its kinda my home If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? Car? Got anyone I want to take with me? Family How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? Internet How am I planning to get food and water? Farming, rain collecting, river What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? Dont have one yet Got a survival philosophy? Yes, why do you ask? Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? Yup Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? Nope My survival plan very simpl actualy , just go to local super market and fortify it, how hard kud it bi? JAJ(just a joke) note: my BOL is changing rapidly so i am writing what is my plan if outbreak started NOW(27. 7 2010) so if i say we will make a greenhouse if outbreak starts NOW that means we won t make greenhouse if outbreak starts for lets say 2 years because we will have it by then. Same for alternate power source note2: if outbreak starts for 4 years i will be at college in another city so this will not be MY plan, but the plan of MY FAMILY. so lets go to my plan NOW Part 1- Bugging out i dont think that media will lie about it just for the story because they will lose their dignity and no one will watch their news, so if they say something zombielike, i thrust them. In city where i live there are 70 000 people and it is unlikely to be zombified so zombies are my least concern(bird and swine flu were not here), for now. Actually i think that it will be better that zombies infect my city than 70 000 people starving( it is food dependent on importation). Anyways on the first signs of outbreak if panic has not hit the fan yet its time to thicken up the supplies. We have food stocked so priorities are : water, arrows, fuel(including LNG) and medical supplies. We have means to get water so first we will go to local gunshop(i call it like it because i do npt know any other alternate word. It does not have any guns[except airguns] or ammo) and buy more arrows and hopefully another bow or crossbow. My area is kinda gunfree so>-<... then go to the pharmacy and buy some plasters, bandages, antibiotics, medical alcohole and stuff for desinfection. after that go to local shop and buy canned food, ham(its non perishable), tapped water, cereals, salt, sugar, flour, frying oil, chips, mosquito sprays, toilet paper, soap, handkerchieves and everything we need in everyday life. Oh and nails too. If panic has hit the fan but not hard we will go raid pet shops for pet food(non perishable, edible) and take some rabbits to breed and eat(meat) if panic hit the fan hard, we stay at home for some time note that this "thickening" is likely and hopefully BUT NOT NECESSARY while my dad and I are shopping my mom will call everyone we know and tell them to dig in and she will be packing food and stuff we want to take to out BOL, charging mobile phones and making some ice in the fridge(to store perishable food for some time after electricity runs out) while smaller kids(bro-9, sisters-6,3) will be packing their comics, DVD s and toys. When we get back we will help with packing. we live in 4 story apartments and our apartment is on the 4 th floor so any barricading is pointless. when packed up, load the stuff in the car(its big, made for 7 people + things can be put on roof) and head to our BOL which is 30 km away. On our way to there through the city there are 2 places where we will likely stop and buy things. First is LNG store(i dont know the word, its the place where you go refill your bottles of LNG for stoves) and get some more LNG bottles, and second is agriculture shop outside the city and buy commercial seeds and pesticides Then we get to our BOL its a farm with 3 floors including ground one, not quite big but farm can feed us and house has metal bars on ground floor window and rain collector and has stock of wood. We come there every weekend and have an orchard with 90 fruit trees and we grow vegetables so we dont buy vegetables and fruits at all(except watermelons, strawberries and bananas) if outbreak started when we are at our BOL, depending if there is panic or zombies in my town we will go there to get supplies from our house and stores, or we won,t. Part 2- Bugging in First thing we do after we unpack, is to get tilt hammer and pickaxe in the house, then fortify the entrance to balcony, which is about 1.5 metre above the ground and zombies will be able to climb there(note: in plan to make a bedroom from balcony, so not necessary if that will be done before). We only need stronger connection with doors and wall so additional hinges will be put. We actually have about 30 additional metal hinges, lol. Then fortify the shed. Additional hinges and wooden planks will do the job. After that put a diesel from car(put a pipe in it, hermetically close the entrance and blow the air, after that, if enough air is blown, diesel will come out in a stream on the other side of the pipe)in another tank which will have to be FULL of diesel after you put in the fuel from car, to prevent fuel from spoiling(disables evaporation and oxidation if there is no air and in full tank there is not). We will warn everyone about the threat and tell them to do the same things we did. If any zombie comes out, go to the second floor, take a pickaxe and tilt hammer and lean out the window, then swing it in his skull breaking it and killing the zombie. Then go down and masacre his skull and move him away from the house. If we need to gather something, we will do it after we do some basic fortification. Other agriculture jobs(except watering) can wait for some time, we have better things to do for now. Now its time to store water. We have a pool which holds 6 tons of water and if its summer, it will be set up. If it is winter, then we will set it up. The point is to use as much water you can before pipes loose the pressure. thats why it will be preferable if we water out plants immediately. Then we will use electricity while we still can. Dishwasher and washing machine will be washing dishes and clothes while it still can. And we will have to make more ice so it will keep the perishables cool for some time after electricity runs out. Part 3- Digging in Modifications for zedpoc. 1-Backyard Kids need some place to play, and its in the backyard. Sandbox, pool(playing in the pool only if we can get water really easily) and space. So fortify it:P. there are actually only 20 metres of fence we will have to enchance, because zombies cant get in from any other direction. I think we will first put some custom made wooden fence, then dig the row 10 cm away from the fence(on outer side of course) and put the dirt on the fence. After couple of days we will have a 2 metre wall. Some wooden spikes will be put to make it even harder for a zombie to climb on. 2-Greenhouse(see note on the top) Farm can feed us so we dont starve to death BUT we will be hungry unless we expand or make a greenhouse. Expanding is dependant on many factors so i dont count on it. Therefore greenhouse. Wooden skelet. We will need like 6 main columns and we will scavange windows for this purpose. I hope to be able to scavenge a forklift from a supermarket, since it will help constructing things a lot. 3- Car Extra layers of windows. i plan to find a car, strip its windows them put them on our car.
