Hey, I think you're super!1
Welcome to our site!2

So, to keep this thing simple, I don't think zombies will ever happen, but economic collapse could result in a similar behavior by looters and unprepared people (a massive panic and unmediated violence). I train extensively and shoot pistols competitively. I try to buy some extra ammo and food when I can and try to put plans in place to keep my family safe and healthy in the event of a large-scale problem.

I think it's a bit sad how little people today know how to do for themselves, and I refuse to be one of them in the event of a collapse of any kind. Knowing how to use guns, fix guns, hunt, and grow food will become skills that not many people have, and I am sure they'll come in handy for people of my generation eventually (I'm less than 25).

I prefer pistols over rifles, but I have a rifle as well for longer range hunting, or raiders once I make it to a BOL, etc. To me, pistols are more rewarding because they are more difficult to shoot (hence a skill that not as many people have a knack for), and they have several unique advantages in close-range urban combat environments. My setup for defending my home includes a shotgun and pistols to take full advantage of each system's strengths.

More to come...
