About Me:

When I started thinking way too much about zombies: when a friend renewed my interest.
What started my zombie fixation: too much time alone when i was a kid.
Favorite zombie book: The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks.

My Survival Plan:

My location: Fresno, CA (i live in the larger suburban area).
Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? i'm trying to develop a plan that isn't so much dependent, but you almost always plan for something happening close to home.
Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? i'll bunker down at home for a bit. i believe i'll be fairly safe here until the screaming crowds disperse somewhat. my house is surrounded by a 5' metal fence, all the outer doorways have metal doors along with a thick wooden door facing inward, and all the windows have bars on them with emergency exit handles.
If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? if the streets are clear i'll take one of our cars (sport, family fan, luxury SUV, or hybrid SUV), but most likely that won't be the case, so i'll walk along the traintracks (they're a 30 second jog from my front door, and bypass the city in several places).
Got anyone I want to take with me? i'll leave kids and elderly either at a safe location, and bring along a small group.
How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? cellphones, internet, or radio, since i have quite a few techie friends.
How am I planning to get food and water? i have a store of canned foods and bottled water at home, but if need be i'm a block away from a small shopping center that includes a 7-11, grocery store, and several small fast food places. we also have water purification means at home and some fruit trees that'll help somewhat.
What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? i desperately need to learn about firearms, but we have several machetes and knives used to ritual slaughter at home, along with a crowbar or two. so i'll probably stick to a small machete and a crowbar.
Got a survival philosophy? i suppose, it makes it easier if you just take each situation as it comes, and prepare for the worst.
Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? definately, though i'll have to go by instinct sometimes.
Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? besides the mandatory zombie survival guide, i go mainly by wilderness survival guides that have pretty pictures and examples, and deep conversation with zombie-aware friends.
