Hello, I am a zombie enthusiast. I have always enjoyed a good zombie movie, and would find a zombie infection situation to be a challenge for the ages.

Zombie-type that I believe in: 28 days later (Rage virus zombies: More believable and likely...ish)
Favorite zombie-type: Brooks zombies

My survival skills:
  • Search and Rescue training
  • Outdoor and urban experience
  • Skilled and experienced at driving many forms of vehicle (Cars to buses to ATVs to dump trucks)
  • Skilled with a firearm (in particular a sidearm)
  • Ingenuity and adaptability
  • Able to lead, fortify, defend, and attack well alone and with small groups
  • Strong

My survival faults:
  • Not very fast or agile
  • Prefer rural over urban (you ain't getting me to stay in the city)
  • Prefers smaller groups
  • Combat preferred
  • I'm not preparing for a zombie invasion until it happens because...come on...at of all the things that can happen zombies will come first?

Area: British Columbia, Canada

My general strategy:
  • Take initial supplies (a gun store prefferably, as it has guns, food, and useful supplies), and get OUT OF THE CITY I'm at (I'm sure when it happens, I'll be in a city; can't be helped).
  • Make an attempt to return to my home region (highly rural and forested, with small managable cities). Gather followers and small supplies while creating a convoy.
  • When I reach a relatively remote and safe area, build a walled community.
  • From this area, return to an outlying small city in small, military-fashion "sorties" to slowly and progressively eliminate zombies. This will be effective due to the small population and ability to easily retreat from the city.
  • Once certain parts of the city are alleviated of zombies (ie: industrial sector, outskirt buildings), move base into these areas and reinforce location.
  • Repeat sorties until town is alleviated.
  • Begin preparations to wall (with natural and man-made) and fortify city.
  • Begin producing food and supplies to feed and maintain populace.
  • Prepare a military-like force to defend city and assist in liberating similar small cities and communities for re-population.

OR
  • After getting out of the city, supplies, and find a secure and safe area, just bunker down (in the rural or middle-of-nowhere place) and wait for decomposition (or starvation if 28 days zombies) to occur in the zombies (they should decompose, if they don't then the first option).

Sorties: You can't stay alone and in the woods forever, so eventually you'll have to take on the zombies (provided they don't decomp, which is likely since they are alive...ish in the first place). Find very small, 100-300 pop communities to relieve, use as a base/ community, then when expansion occurs (more survivors and resources are needed), move your strengthened force to a larger (but not too much larger, maybe 300 more) community. ONLY MOVE TO A LARGER COMMUNITY WHEN YOURS IS TOO SMALL, AND YOU CAN FIELD A FORCE FOR SORTIES!!!

The main tactic for all of us would be to simply bunker down and wait for the zombies to decompose. They are dead, and like all dead things they should decompose. Unless we're dealing with the guys from "28 Days later", I would simply play defence and wait it out. (Note: I would still go through with my plan, it's easier to deal with a few zombies in a rural area than a bunch of zombies in a city)
