About Me:
My Survival Plan:
  • When I started thinking way too much about zombies: It was so long ago that I can’t really remember.

  • What started my zombie fixation: I remember watching Dawn of the Dead and wondering if I could survive in a world infested by Zombies.

  • Favorite zombie book: Well that depends…if it’s just for fun then I like the Resident Evil books, but if it’s supposed to be educational then I would say the Survival Guide. Right now I'm reading World War Z & Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

  • Favorite zombie movie: I would have to say that my favorite Zombie movie is Dawn of the Dead, followed closely by the Resident Evil movies.

  • Favorite quote in any zombie movie: [to Terri, on how to kill a zombie with a gun] Jill Valentine: Try to shoot 'em in the head.

  • My location: USA

  • Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? I have a plan if I stay home and one if I need to be somewhere else.

  • If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? Ford F-150 & Ford Ranger

  • Got anyone I want to take with me? My mother, since the woman can drive anything on wheels!

  • How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? I will go the hermit route for a while and once things settle down a bit then I would try to communicate. Desperate people are crazy so you have to be very careful. Hmm, in a perfect world I would communicate using a SINCGARS, but my cell phone (while there is service available) or anything like that will do.

  • How am I planning to get food and water? Well, I have tons of canned food and bottle water at home since I am always prepared for a storm or hurricane and it can last quite a while especially if you ration it. Still, for the sake of argument there is a Sam's and a K-mart right outsite the privacy fence of my complex. To the eastern side of the privacy fence there is a creek that runs around part of the complex, so I can get from point A to point B using it if I have to. Also, there is always the sewers! Yuck...

  • What’s my weapon of choice? M4, M16A2, M9 Pistol,M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), Benelli M3 (Super 90). I'm sure there are better weapons out there, but I have always been a true believer in sticking to what you know.

  • Got a survival philosophy? Stay awake, stay alive.

  • Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? Yes, I am. As long as they contribute something useful.

ARMY brat?...Did you serve?...Girl Scout mabey?...Hmmm i wonder, youre waaaay ahead of the curve. Drop me a line. If i could make a sugestion though...i too am discusted with ACU's specially since looking at them gives me a headache...old habbits die hard, they diddent have those things when i served, haveing said that, they work...extreamly effective in all environments not just the woods...sothats what ill be sportin...also from us cav and ranger joes both you can get th new acu onesie (jumpsuit) , extreamly handy as no loose clothing to be grabbed. Also replace your tactical knives with "COLD STEEL" tactical tanto...as a former opperator from personal experiace i can tell you they will pneitrate a car door, slash through 2" manilla rope with out breaking a sweat, expertly balanced, have a rockwell hardness exceeding 54c, hold an edge like no other, and at .25" thick, 7" blade, 12" overall length, they can dubble as a dynamic entry tool. and they only run 489.00 PLUS TX...Ill be wareing all 8 of mine. Also invest in a pair of KEVLAR forearm gators, barly notice them, and are slash/ cut/ punctor proof, and are both water repellent and blood borne pathogen resistant...only 80 bucks from ranger joes.

MajorDamage Convoy Operations 1 Aug 21 2009, 1:02 AM EDT by figgy17

Frankie had asked me about convoy ops (prior to the convoy threat) about some of the most important planning factors. I list this to start with:

Radio contact is VITAL. Little models w/12 mi range or better work great and have recharge via 12v.
Have all drivers know plan and alt plan. Every vehicle equipped w/nav aids (map, compass, person w/sense of direction).
Depending on movement, have rally points and plan for what to do for ambush.

It will depend on the vehicle makeup too.

figgy17 When Zs attack and you're not at home! 5 Aug 9 2009, 9:50 PM EDT by ironhand

The purpose of this thread is for everyone to consider and alternate plan. Lets say that I have an upcoming trip to Europe, or I am boarding a cruise ship for a 10 day vacation, or I'm just visiting relatives in a different state, put yourself in those positions and think about what your plan would be when you're away from everything you know. Where there is no friends, no back up, and no weapons! Could you survive a Zombie invation in a less than ideal enviornment? Could you find the way to a more secure enviornment?

Let me see some ideas!
