Well, in a post apocalyptic world, you need to not only be smart but strong to survive... While it's a wonderful benefit to being smart, if you're not strong enough to hold a door closed against the undead outside of it, unfortunately brains aren't gonna be enough to keep you safe.

Similarly, if someone's not mentally stable, being surrounded by zombies isn't going to change that.

Your both right on the money.....

"Strong" (in my motto) is referring to both mental and physical toughness.

Strong in body is useless if it's run my a 10 cent head. (There's plenty of professional athletes I can sight here from examples.)

Smart (like Heather said) is no substitute for physical strength and stamina when it comes time to run or go without food for 3-4 days. (A general example - A smart gazelle may avoid the jaguar's ambush, but when it comes to straight out running when attacked - jaguar's speed will win.)

Mentally Strong - That's when you have to make the HARD decision to survive. It's not about "can I do this right now", it's about "can I live with it after I do it". (Kind of like having not letting your kid go out for track because they can't keep their grades up or not be able to pay the monthly fees for Karate because they are already in Band.)

But come Z-day, those decisions become MUCH harder! Like - "Do I leave the kid in the wheelchair to die because I can't carry him and run too?" Or "Do I jump in to save a little girl cornered by zombies when I've only got 2 shots left in my shotgun?"
