About Me:
When I started thinking way too much about zombies: Once I started to realize the "what if" aspect, and I realized how bad I actually want to kill zombies.
What started my zombie fixation: Watching the original "Dawn of the Dead" at 13 years old.
Favorite zombie book: World War Z
Favorite zombie movie: Shaun of the Dead
Favorite quote in any zombie movie: "Did you see his head go?"

My Survival Plan:
My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web:
My location: Homer, NY
Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? Mostly on home turf, but I have proper precautions and procedures in the handling of an "out of town" Z-Day.
Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? Headed elsewhere yet still close by.
If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? by bike or by foot
Got anyone I want to take with me? my brother
How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? I plan on going hermit for the first four weeks while staying updated with any forms of radio or TV transmissions still being broadcasted. After the first four weeks are over I'll attempt contact in any way possible.
How am I planning to get food and water? I already have stores of food ready to last for a couple weeks, and water is readily available in many river and stream sources around me (which I'll decontaminate before use of course).
What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? I have two weapons of choice, the baseball bat and .22 semi-automatic rifle. I keep a baseball bat in my room, car, and garage. I'm also a hunter and have a five shot .22 semi-automatic rifle with scope. The rounds are clip fed and I have multiple clips.
Got a survival philosophy? The most important thing is maintaining humanity. While you can only trust yourself, you have to keep in mind that not only the survival of our species is important, it's also the survival of our morals. Remember, not everyone is a saint, but keep your heart warm and help others whenever you can. Hugs don't hurt either.
Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? Yes, but my group isn't going to be any larger than four people unless they have extensive knowledge of survival. Most likely though it'll be just me and perhaps one other.
Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? I have read and can readily implement the "Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks. I've also seen an extremely large amount of zombie movies and while most content is questionable or unthinkable, I've noted the highlights from these films.

well after another long argument that included alcohol I finally couldn't take it any more, I HAD to prove to my friends why a molotav cocktail wouldn't be a great weapon against zombies. after finding a safe place to test we threw together a rag along with a coors bottle filled to the brim with gas, one light of a zippo later the molotav was splashed out with only a five foot diameter zone, almost in a perfect circle I might add.

possibly one of the WORST ZOMBIE WEAPONS

now before the rambos start trying to prove me wrong let's think a bit more about what this bit of info means

unless you plan on taking one zombie at a time, throwing ALOT of molotavs, or maybe you've got all the time in the world to lead them through the flames I suggest you go get a gun, or at least a melee weapon; not to mention the fact that a zombie on fire is gonna take a little while to burn to a non-threatening crisp. plus let's not forget that the melee weapons and guns would've dispatched those zombies alot quicker and less dangerously

am I right or wrong to think about molotavs this way?

now before you think I'm trying to post a "hook up" thread what I'm actually getting at is the point of this site.

In order for we as individuals to be an effective force when the apocalypse hits us (if it does) we talk of pairing up with others that are ready and knowledgeable of zombies. Unfortunately it's actually hard to find others to pair up with ahead of time that are fully aware of what a zombie infestation would equate to. I mean that's the point of this site right? To better ourselves before an attack.

So hopefully the logic in this will be seen and the thread won't be locked, if otherwise, oh well.

So I was hoping that we could just do it like this: simply state your location and find other members that are close to you, if they are then friend them and open up dialogue. Congratulations not only do you have a friend but you also have a partner that knows what to do when the time comes.

I'll start:
I live in Homer, NY Cortland County Central New York region
throw me a friend request if close by or I'll throw you one

madworld0909 Wouldn't the Desert be the best environment against zombies? 0 Jul 11 2010, 9:41 AM EDT by madworld0909

I just had a dream last night and I realized the genius in it.

Alright we all know how zombies are either infected humans or infected corpses right? In the Zombie Survival Guide Max Brooks mentions the desert and in a few movies the desert is shown as well. But something that they haven't taken into thought is dehydration!

In my dream I was wandering the desert and for some reason I knew I was traveling away from zombies. While walking I noticed a zombie laying on the ground in my path. As I got closer I saw that it was dried to a crisp. That's when I had a eureka moment and woke up (to my dismay).

So does anyone share my thoughts on this? I mean think about it, a person can die in the desert within several hours if they're not careful. On top of that have you noticed how long it takes for anything to simply die on a hot road in the desert and dry up? Just one day. It doesn't matter what kind of zombie it is, it can't move it's body whatsoever if it's all dried up.

madworld0909 fast? slow? bacterial, parasitic, or viral? what's the probability? 1 Jul 10 2010, 2:02 PM EDT by AztecKing

well I think we've all faced this question many times. when the zombies come, what will they be like?

what I'm asking for is a description of zombies you think are the most probable using the elements posed (or perhaps some of your own elements)

I'll start: personally I believe that the most probable attack from zombies will take shape in the form of a virus with people and they will be fast, much like that of the rage virus from "28 days/weeks later"

the reason I think this is that I believe that while there are the chances for other zombie elements the most likely will come in the form of an infection the brain that would be like an advanced rabies due to nature of viruses to not control a body but to create an altered state such as an enraged, confused, and violent one as it does with animals.

also, NO ARGUING. keep it to constructive criticism and answers please

p.s. I tried looking for a thread like this one, I found similar but not in the manner as I have posed. if still too similar, call a MOD please
