Armored vehicles
Aug 29 2008, 3:00 PM EDT We need these big time. You need to get windows covered with something that is not overly heavy but still is light weight. heavy duty lead trucks with plows. Or some kind of deflector that will ram zombies off the road. Do you find this valuable? |

What would a snow blower do to Zed? Do you find this valuable? |

Aug 30 2008, 1:10 AM EDT "Be aware snowplow-type designs may limit 4wd/offroad abilities severely"True, but it would be good for putting Zed off the road. Would also help in clearing other obstacles from the road for following vehicles. Do you find this valuable? |

Sep 1 2008, 1:40 AM EDT Quick question, is there a way to have an automated system to raise a a snowplow when you want to go off road, and lower it when you see obstacles? Do you find this valuable? |

Sep 1 2008, 10:21 AM EDT "Quick question, is there a way to have an automated system to raise a a snowplow when you want to go off road, and lower it when you see obstacles?"I am a little far south to have much experience with snow plows, but, they all seem to have manually controlled hydraulics to raise and lower the plow. Even the pickup mounted ones. Do you find this valuable? |

Now it looks like its going to take alot of work Do you find this valuable? |

Probably get by with a few relays and no programming. Do you find this valuable? |

Sep 1 2008, 11:28 PM EDT "Micro-controller, electronically controlled hydraulics, few sensors, little programming, push one button and you are ready. Pro of radio- No need to drill messy holes everywhere. If main power source fails, the other systems should still operate. Pro of hardwiring- No need to replace batteries, ECM jamming does not affect your controls. But, if your main battery and engine fail, it doesnt matter if your suspension and other hydraulics still lift on command. Do you find this valuable? |

Sep 3 2008, 1:06 AM EDT I got brand new diesel generator that would would work. I use it on my tractor for our hydraulics. Being that my old tractors PTO system doesn't work any more. It works very nice. PS if the main battery fails the alternator should keep the motor running and in good shape unless its no good. Then you got a problem. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Armored vehicles
Sep 3 2008, 5:48 PM EDT "what generators are good?"Generally speaking, look for a low speed engine around 1500 to 2000 rpm, quality hardware and construction. Brand names, Honda and Kohler are well respected. I did see one big one powered by a Detroit Diesel V16, should power a small town with no trouble. Do you find this valuable? |

Sep 4 2008, 5:50 PM EDT The Detroit are good diesels Thats what i got in my old Cab over pete. Lots of low end torque. but still she'll climb steep hills with a D10 Dozer in high gear with a few mods like mine. They are good work horses. It work but a little big for pickup to haul around. But it would work Do you find this valuable? |

Nov 1 2008, 3:16 PM EDT I just talked to my friend. I just bought a Duece From him. I was talking bout putting a large V plow on the front. The kind you see on the old plow trucks up North during the winter seasons. He said that it would work if you get a large hydrolic ram system going. Do you find this valuable? |
