Ok cadet, let's start with a few musings on your planning assumptions.
Do you even know who and what are stationed on Ft Meade? Do you have any idea of the level of security, on a good day, let alone a real security condition?
You do realize that Ft Meade is located smack dab middle between Baltimore and Washington DC, right? If so, how can you possibly state that it is "in an area with relatively few people" with straight letters? Compared to what? New York City? There are about 7 million people in the Balt-DC corridor and general area. Most of them are on I-95 or 295, whichever one I happen to be driving on at the time and usually in front of me or bearing down on my rear.

I suggest you seriously re-think this.

I just read through his profile...
In the two years he's been here, it appears he hasn't picked up on even the slightest details.
-He states his intelligence?!?
-He plans on raiding a gun store!?!
-He still plans on using a crowbar of all things...
-The last five languages he listed are probably no more than a simple "hello", or "how are you."

His plan is more full of holes than my old camo pants.

Richboy, I suggest you at least try to come up with a better plan. Please.

I thought it was utterly laughable that he thinks he is going to walk "one day" to this army base. Even if he does manage to "raid some guns" you just can't go strolling about in zombieland.

You say he's been on this site for two years? And that's the best he can come up with?

Hold on, I'll explain a couple of things.

1. Gun store- The gun store is unknown by even the people who live across the street from it. I assure you, there will still be some kind of weapon inside.
2. Crowbar- I already own one. Has sharp edge and blunt edge. I don't own a katana, and I don't own a machete. It is the best available at the time, so I use it.
3. On a good day at Fort Meade, the only security I remember, which was Saturday, last week, was a couple of guards with handguns at the front gate. In a real security scenario, ie 9/11, I think they would have simply locked the gate and put guards up with M16 watching it. You can look at a picture of the entrance on wikipedia. In any case, say, I hear of people eating people or whatever, I can waltz across the street to the gun shop, purchase a rifle and load bulets into it, then maybe do the Terminator thing and shoot the owner and take him for all 50 or so of the rifles present, along with handguns and shotguns.
4. In those languages, except English, German, and Spanish, I can't say much, but post-Z Day, there will be some major communication problems. Say you head north into Quebec and you can't speak French. You are heading south into Mexico but can't speak Spanish. You sail across the Atlantic into Germany, but can't speak German. Sucks for you. I'm going to start rethinking my plan, but its going to be gradual.

1. Never cite your Intellegence as a refrence it only points inthe poopsite direction.
2. never let Zeds get close enough to have to use a 1foot long crowbar, I own a butter knife, but don't plan to use it.
3. The comment about the machine guns and .50 cal sniper rifles was abviously aimed at me. yes I own and operate them. That is my professional business and ammo is plentiful.
4. Gun store, I own one bad idea trust me. First off the owner will never allow you to load the thing ao the whole terminator thing is out which again points to my first point.
5. stop trying to explain yourself your making it worse. As a Veteran Of theMarine Corps I can tell you when a base is locked down the security is tighter that you could dream, and a military dependant ID card Is not enough (unless you live ON the base) to get you through the gate.

I'm sorry but you win the cheese cracker award.

1. If you don't have it now don't count on it.
2. Crowbars are great for being tools, but running and evading will get you further in life than going Gordon Freeman with a crowbar.
3. And guess what if SHTF they will be on lockdown.
4. You shouldn't be dealing with people who don't even understand you in the first place when SHTF.

"Hold on, I'll explain a couple of things."
Oh man...where to even start.
Fist of all you are telling people who are stationed on this American military base what the security is like. I would think that they know what the security is like there much better than you and they are saying you don't have a bats chance in hell of ever getting in.

Second...a crowbar is a tool not a weapon. You won't get far swinging a tool around WALKING THROUGH ZOMBUELAND!

Third...a gun shop no one knows about but you...thats amazing. One would wonder how such a mysterious buisness could continue to stay in buesness. Good luck getting the drop on the owner of a gun shop by the way. I'm sure he hasn't spent years, possibly decades just wishin a Mo/fo would be as dumb as you.

Forth...why the hell would you EVER want to go to QUEBEC!? i live in Canada...and I would never go to Quebec. You know what they got there? French people. I don't know if you know this...but no one likes the french.

You are doomed to become zombie food. Do all of us a favour and end it before you end up adding to the problem.

Ouch, a little harsh maybe duterfel? Not that I suggest speaking in metaphors or anything, but damn.

Richboy, your plan has a LOT of holes (all of the aforementioned) and maybe you should consider revising it. Look over a few of the other survival strategies and replan accordingly. There are a few universal "do's and don'ts" and it appears you're doing some of the "Don'ts" and missing out on some important "Do's."

Other than that, at least you've got some good ideas in your plan - try to remove the bad ones.

I am not aiming the .50 cal comment at anyone, but .50 cal ammo is not commonly sold and Ma Deuce parts are not easily sold, nor very portable and M-82s are also rather heavy. I am going to revise my plan. I never said you would WANT to go to Quebec, but you might have to pass through it to get where you want to go. I know everyone hates the French, especially normal Canadians. Also, since I lack a machete, a lightsaber, and a trejch knife, I would carry the best thing available. A machete, katana, trench knife, and katana cannot be used to open doors, remove nails, or basically fulfill the functions of a tool. And I'm serious about the gun shop. People go there on Sundays to buy ammo and that's about it. I'm not counting on it, but it seems like a viable option. Hell, if I die in the first hours, does that suck more dying in the last day?

Yes.

Yes it does suck to die when there are more hours, days or years still available to live.

This is a Survival site (with the capital 'S') and the only object of the 'game.'

Indeed.

I plan on surviving as long as humanly possible. My weapons will only get me so far. Intelligence, training, creativity and the willingness to do whatever needs to be done to survive will get me through the rest.

I realize that survival is key. However, if I die in the first few hours, I would be ashamed of myself, as I would still if I died during the endng or aftermath. Wouldn't you? If you died after we had allegedly retaken Earth from Zack from a fall or the flu or something stupid that I will probably die from in a cruel twist of fate, wouldn't you feel awful in the afterlife?

If you die in the first few hours of Z-Day, you couldn't be ashamed - you'd be too dead. That's even worse than being shamed, IMO. Death is something we're all certain to face at one point or another, whether zombies are involved or not - and because of that, I have no fear of it - but you should always strive for excellence when it comes to survival. You should always try to stack the odds in your favor so that you live a longer, happier and healthier life.

Having a bad plan is better than having no plan - but having a good plan makes the most out of every possible contingency. Try to keep it simple but effective. If you're interested, I've got a few omnibus suggestions that would help any plan.

Eventually, there will simply be too many zombies, raidrs, aliens, terrorists, Nazis, etc. facing you that you can't run and evade. If 100 zombies come my way, sure, I can't and won't try to kill all 100, but I will kill the few that get in my way with the crowbar and then run.

If you are West of the Balt-DC mess, you are where the 'masses' will be heading.

The whole DC metro area is going to be one big charlie foxtrot, 70, 395, 495 are all going to be one big parkinglot/graveyard. Some advice I have is head for the Eastern Shore there are some areas in the swamps down there you could survive in. But holy poop I stayed away from Meade when I lived down there thems some spoky mofros hanging around there(no offense MD)
