Your plan is a good start. Rational, well thought out and easily achievable.

Your next step in my opinion would be to break it into sections and elaborate. What kind of outbreak do you expect to be facing (you noted Max Brooks, so use the Class 1-4 system) and how will you respond to each? What preparations will you be making now, in the next year, in the next five?

I started with a Zombie apocalypse, but I have expanded mine into any disaster requiring relocation, self-sufficiency and the probability of having to defend aginst hostile targets (looters, raiders, etc)

How far you go along the "Just In Case" path (read Emergency by Neil Strauss) is up to you.
