Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

What is the worst possible thing that can go wrong with your plan?

Major Kenneth Rose of the US Army's Training and Doctrine Command outlined some of the advantages in robotic technology in warfare: "Machines don't get tired. They don't close their eyes. They don't hide under trees when it rains and they don't talk to their buddies ... A human's attention to detail on guard duty drops dramatically in the first 30 minutes ... Machines know no fear."

Redundant thread. Sorry, mods...

One of my contingencies is to follow the railroad tracks out of town. No cars, very little foot traffic, and if you run across a locomotive they usually have a six-pack of water bottles. If you're hoofing it way out of town, the tracks might be easier than overland travel, and safer than the highway.
