About Me: When I started thinking way too much about zombies: after reading Zombie Survival Guide What started my zombie fixation: thinking about how society would react in an epidemic Favorite zombie book: Day By Day Armagedon Favorite zombie movie: Land of the Dead Favorite quote in any zombie movie: "Tell him to get Rosie" "No, that's too easy. Give him a challenge." Dawn of the Dead 2004 My Survival Plan: My “handle” should you look for me on the radio waves or web: ZSG1 My location: North East Ohio Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? No. Honestly I'm preparing for a total societal collapse. Whether it be from zombies or not....I'm ready. Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else? Somewhere else. Its a family members home, but its close, has plenty of land to hunt and farm, and, most importantly, there aren't many people around. If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? It's a short distance so i can walk/ ride a bike, but i will drive for as long as i can. Got anyone I want to take with me? My family has many skills that are valuable. I have a former marine, two mechanics, a nurse, a general contractor, a trapper, three hunters, a farmer, and everyone can fish. (some of the skills overlap). Beyond that though its pretty much my closest friend (who happens to know a TON about farming and nature in general in addtion to having a **** ton of guns) and my girlfriend (she has pretty bad asthema so she can't do much outside, but she is a DAMN good cook) How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? I will attempt to comunticate after my fortress' defenses are fully up. Before that though we will have radio silence. I might even go as far as setting up a temporary refuge and have signs directing survivors to the location so that we can take in other people and allow our cortress to expand into a compound. How am I planning to get food and water? hunting, traping, fishing, and farming for food and there is a large lake about 1/2 a mile away and an average size creek within 20 yards. There is almost nothing but farm land and woods where I'm going so there are plenty of deer and other animals and ample room to farm. What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? crossbow for ranged because it is silent and the bolts can be reused (saving gunpowder for other uses), melee is a toss up between a machette and a prybar, and when silence doesn't matter... I'll have my M1 Garand, 30-30, and a 12ga waiting. Got a survival philosophy? silence is golden, but when S.H.T.F. I prefer brass Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? Pending they are willing to surrender weapons temporarily and go though a probationary period to determine their motives Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of? probably not. I do research into all kinds of things and modify my plan as i go. i've got info on everything from estimates on how much meat is usable from different animals, to how to build a two-pit latrine, to how to sterilize water using only the sun. Everything is written down, printed off, and kept in a notebook and binder that is right next to my B.O.B. My score and score summary on the non-lame zombie survival test My cousin filmed a trailer for a movie that we are planning to film. The trailer was meant for a school project, but we had too much fun working on it, so we decided to keep it working on it. The video is on youtube, but won't load onto this site, so here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sShh1I5jQK4&feature=fvsr
