Please let me say that your plan is far better then anyone in our generation. Like any plan though, I have questions.
First one: How many acres is your land in total? Because you describe it as a farm, or a ranch. I only ask this because Farming would prove far more reliable in an outbreak scenario. Second: The barn, You plan on stripping ALL the materials down? How do you plan to do it exactly? One screwup and that is a piece of wood wasted, I'm not exactly I demolition expert so if you could shed some light on that, that would be awesome. Third One: The girlfriend, It will be hard to swallow it up, but chances are, if you are alive, then she is dead. You didn't provide a whole lot of information about her survival capability, Which leads me to believe there is none. From what you are saying the town she lives in is ten miles away, It shouldn't take you more then ten minutes to get there traveling at normal speeds, But you have to look at the BIGGER picture. You Risk your life, you risk giving away your location (And by doing so you risk your parents' lives). I'm not going to deny a man his lass, Just make sure she's with you at the FIRST sign of an outbreak. My way of thinking, is "If I can't see them, They're already dead." I can't say anything about your guns because I have never used them before, So I'm not gonna. Other then these points stated above, Get some more survivor to join the camp and make it a village (Farming will be so much easier then.) |

First off staying in your house is a bad idea, because it doesn't matter how much you have barricaded it or how much ammo or food you have. Zombies live a long time without anything. They can also call each other so your house will be surrounded in mere weeks if not days. Also, what kind of a life is that? staying inside will family? You will eat at each other and one of you will break. I am new to this site but i know a lot of things, the only way to stay alive is to keep moving. Which brings me to my other point, a regular school backpack and you live in the country? Wrong choice. You should have a military issue backpack, those carry the most but they also weigh the most when fully loaded. The guns too, why so many? why not take the most accurate rife you have, the shotgun with the most range, and your best sidearm with you and just take extra ammo? Those guns will weigh you down unless you can give them to other members of your party. Take some pens too, pencils are crap if they break right? forget the shampoo too, luxuries don't exist anymore but if you can manage soap then good. Also, your clothing should be tight but not too tight and you need a haircut. If a zombie gets within range and you try to run and it grabs your hair... well then it was nice not knowing you. However i do appreciate your knowledge of the woods and camping and hunting skills.

You could just get a Glock 19, same gun but smaller. Uses the same mags so when you get it just go shopping for g17 mags. Then later on in your life when you have something else as your prim, you now have a compact g19 that has 17 round mag's. Wicked combo.
