First off staying in your house is a bad idea, because it doesn't matter how much you have barricaded it or how much ammo or food you have. Zombies live a long time without anything. They can also call each other so your house will be surrounded in mere weeks if not days. Also, what kind of a life is that? staying inside will family? You will eat at each other and one of you will break. I am new to this site but i know a lot of things, the only way to stay alive is to keep moving. Which brings me to my other point, a regular school backpack and you live in the country? Wrong choice. You should have a military issue backpack, those carry the most but they also weigh the most when fully loaded. The guns too, why so many? why not take the most accurate rife you have, the shotgun with the most range, and your best sidearm with you and just take extra ammo? Those guns will weigh you down unless you can give them to other members of your party. Take some pens too, pencils are crap if they break right? forget the shampoo too, luxuries don't exist anymore but if you can manage soap then good. Also, your clothing should be tight but not too tight and you need a haircut. If a zombie gets within range and you try to run and it grabs your hair... well then it was nice not knowing you. However i do appreciate your knowledge of the woods and camping and hunting skills.

Hey there Carlos, welcome to the site. First, I'd like to note that Zach here is valuable member of this site and he might be the only teenager I'd trust post Z-day.

Second, you say that that zombies "live a long time" and can "call each other". Well unfortunately, we don't KNOW anything about zombies yet, since they've never existed. All we can do is prepare for the worst.

Third, staying on the move is no guarantee of safety. If that's your plan then more power to you, but there's no reason to believe that Zach's plan is any worse. As of now, my plan is also to barricade in.

And finally, your suggestions to Zach to wear tight clothes and cut his hair are obviously from the Zombie Survival Guide from Max Brooks. We find that book to be entertaining and a good starting point, but we don't follow it word for word. In fact, if you use the search bar to search for that topic, you'll see that many members who are familiar with guns find it to be incorrect in many aspects.

Anyhow, your feedback on personal survival plans is always appreciated.

Thanks for that, Maricely. :D

Carlos, thanks for taking a look at my profile. However, I believe a plan should be made to fit the individual. Not what Max Brooks says is the best way. Going on the move would fit some people, more specifically some of the city folk, but for me staying here is the best option.

Think about it.
I could stay here, in the place I grew up. It's a pretty low-populated area, I'm quite a ways away from town, and have knowledge of the area, as does my family. I live In a decent sized house. Not so big it'd be difficult to fortify, but not so small that it'd be hard to support a family of 4. And due to my location, the chances of large hoards of zombies being on my doorstep are very slim. But in case zombies do wonder into my neck of the woods, my house is on the top of a hill with a good view of the surrounding countryside and roads. This makes the house very defendable.
The solid oak barn and various animal pins with sheet metal roofs provide not only material for reinforcing, but also places to raise any animal from chickens to cows. There is a wide variaty of wild game in the area, almost all of which I have experiance hunting. There are also many small creeks, ponds, and wells with drinkable water.

Or, I could convince my parents to help gather up supplies and leave (which is very unlikely, I might add) and leave all this, and travel to some location I don't have knowledge of. We'd have to live off the land, instead of a nice cozy house in the country. On the way, we'd probably be more likely to encounter stray zombies and dangerous survivors. Traveling is a b*tch, especially if the gas ran out. We do have horses, but we have 2, so they we would still have to walk but we could use them as pack horses.
I could go on, but I've reached the word limit, and don't feel like double posting.
But anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Uhm, I did list the Remington 870, Savage 111, and LAR as the weapons I'd take with me IF I had to leave. I'm not taking my whole arsonal on my back. Then I'd have two 12 gauges, a 20 gauge, a .270, a .30 30, two .357 mags, a .44, and a .22. I'm not that stupid. lol I was just listing what else I have availiable. But also, you have to take my family into account. The 15 year old son wouldn't be the one with all the weapons, my dad would too.

But if I'm staying home, then as nate said, there's no such thing as too many guns.

I'm probably going to update my BOB though. I've made a few minor changes.
My whole profile could use an update really. Maybe if I find the time.

Oh, and the reason I'm using a school backpack, is because we only have one good camping pack, and I'm positive that woud be my dads. So he'd be the main packmule, I'd just have extra.
