Welcome to our site!1

Greetings fellow zombie survivalists.
I'm a 25 yr old male from Sydney Australia. I live about 10kms from the CBD so obviously when (for lack of a better term) SHTF I'll need to GTFO. I'm no expert in anything to do with weapons or combat, but what I do claim to have is a cool head and plenty of tact. Having once been a boy scout, I'm all about "being prepared". I'm here to learn as much as I can about Zombie Survival, and hopefully share some opinions of my own.
About Me:
When I started thinking way too much about zombies: I've always been fascinated with zombie fiction, even from an early age. My father always accused me of having a "morbid fascination"

What started my zombie fixation:Video games mostly, then movies and books
The resident evil series (Games, not the ridiculous Mila Jovavic movies) played a huge part in my interest.

Favorite zombie book:Can't pick just one! Max Brooks Zombie survival guide.
And the zombie combat manual by Roger Ma. Do the walking dead comics count?

Favorite zombie movie: I can't really pick just one. The most notable ones would be Zombie land, dawn of the dead 28 days / weeks later (even though they run) Also, the walking dead BEST SHOW EVER

My Survival Plan:
Under construction

My “handle” should you look for you on the radio waves or web:
My location:
Is my plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere?: My plan revolves temporarily on the low density of population in rural areas not too far from my home. As a fall back area, it will serve useful on escaping the immediate danger of the CBD

Will I be staying in my home or headed somewhere else?: Living so close to the city, staying home is NOT an option, at least, not long term anyway.

If I'm heading out, how do I plan to get there? : Timing will be everything, leaving too soon will get me caught up in the panic evacuations, unless I canpre-empt that and leave before that happens. On the other hand, leaving too late will leave me outnumbered by walkers, or runners. GOD I HOPE THEY'RE WALKERS...
Motorbike or boat will be my ideal modes of transport away from home.

Got anyone I want to take with me? : Since my family already lives in rural Australia, it wont be a problem bailing out quickly and efficiently. Since many of my friends think it's a joke to be prepared for such an event, they will suffer their ignorance.

How will I communicate with the outside world, or do I plan to go the hermit route? :
At first, communicating with the outside world will be very risky. People will be in such a panicked state that looting, raiding, pillaging will be an immediate danger to my party. Eventually, once a permanent sanctuary or fortress is established, scouting out will be viable.

How am I planning to get food and water?: Self sustaining methods such as rain catchment and agriculture will hopefully be enough to provide. (More study is required)

What’s my weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Got a plan for that? :
I plan to join a gun club and obtain a handgun through legal methods. I'm thinking small calibre for
ease of weight reduction of ammo, less noise, bigger clips etc
Also, archery takes my fancy. Becoming a marksman with a bow is silent and deadly, with almost infinite ammunition when recycled.

Got a survival philosophy? :
I'm not much of a philosopher. I think the trick is to just stay alive, isn't it?

Am I willing to hook up with other survivors? :
Yes, within reason of course. People are more dangerous than the walking dead!
Half the reason I joined ZSDW, was to see how many other people out there are planning for survival.

Is my plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist other survivors may have heard of?:
My "Plan" is based on many of the above mentioned things. Books, movies, tv, other peoples ideas mixed in with some of my own. Regardless, no amount of planning and scheming, will set you up for what lies ahead. I expect to make a lot of hard and impromptu decisions when things don't go to plan. You never plan to fail, but you can always fail to plan!
