Is your plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere?
(start typing here...) My plan is dependent on there being "signs" of impending zombie epidemic and a reasonable amount of time (1-2 days?) to act on the signs, preferably before the status quo does. Zombies everywhere, I guess.

Will you be staying in your home or headed somewhere else? Heading north past the White Mountains to hole up in my parents retirement home, an old farmhouse, in the woods, on a lake, that can easily be fortified and is fairly remote. My dad=South Boston Irish-a tough, useful, creative SOB that gets things done. I always feel safe with my dad. No time, try for the local Masonic lodge 1/4 mile away. It's brick, shuttered windows, plus tucked behind 3 restaurants for easy raiding. Fencing around roof, ? accessible rooftop. Also, I've never seen anyone enter or exit the building(?), hmm, mysterious and most folks don't even know it's there. So I'm thinking short of Masons, not many of the locals will have the same idea. I'll get there first 'cuz of proximity to my home.

If you're heading out, how do you plan to get there? Best case scenario, in my loaded minivan just before panic strikes. Worst case scenario, travel anyway I can, back routes; trekking with a compass, map, even coastally in a small craft if I had to. Keep moving.

Got anyone you want to take with you? 4 kids, 10-19. No way I'll leave without any of them. My soon-to-be ex-husband, 'cuz he's still a great guy and totally useful, protective. My stepsons' mom, if she'll go, 'cuz that could hold him back. My 2 nieces/god kids on the way, wouldn't leave them behind without knowing.

How will you communicate with the outside world, or do you plan to go the hermit route? Hermit route, take care of my shit first. Then eventually and cautiously use cell phones, cbs, ham radios to get info, locate other survivors. But I'm generally suspicious of other people.

How are you planning to get food and water? For travel, I'd take my home stores. Right timing, stop to buy protein/energy bars, canned items. If no time, take what I got, raid along the way, grocery/super stores (but who won't?), abondoned private homes, also try to think outside the box a little by raiding places like gyms (energy bars), semi trailers, school cafeterias, office buildings (cafeterias). My northern crew will be stocked enough to regroup, make a plan, if I ever get there, Lord willing.

What's your weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? No firearms on hand yet, but I'm working on it. Axes, sickle blade, hubbies martial arts bag of tricks, plus good, old Louisville sluggers. If I make it north, plenty of firearms and crossbows there, but I gotta learn to use them.

Got a survival philosophy? Me alive = my kids alive = survival at any cost. Always have a full tank of gas, blankets and case of water in your car. Don't get infected, dummy.

Are you willing to hook up with other survivors? Yes, but not if they weren't down with my agenda. And I'm a sucker for kids, so don't think I could turn my back on one. That's my karma, whether stupid or not, sorry if it's not rational. But I would not "babysit" a useless adult for a hot minute.

Is your plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist we may have heard of? Movies and books give me all kinds of ideas, but most of my plan comes from some of the Y2K planning my extended family got together on beforehand. So I guess it was good for something!
