NAEGLERIA - this one is found in water and soil, but only one species - naegleria fowleri - can infect humans. The infection mimics bacterial meningitis and affects the brain and spinal cord. The parasite enters the body through underwater swimming and/or diving - the ameba then travels to the brain and spinal cord. Infection causes Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM), a brain inflammation, which leads to the destruction of brain tissue. Initial symptoms of PAM include headache, fever, nausea, vomiting and stiff neck. Further destruction of brain tissue leads to confusion, lack of attention, loss of balance and body control, seizures, hallucinations. This disease progresses very rapidly and usually results in death in 3-7 day.
When pushed to the brink of death out disorientation a person can and would most likely attack another human. If one of these parasites such at the one I mentioned above or Toxoplasma Gondii (Which I think are the two most likely to be used) Were aver cultivated and distributed in mass to say a High school or even worse a water treatment plant . The results would be catastrophic. It's not a matter of if it will happen its how and when.

if all of these things could cause zombies then why havent they yet, i can promise absolutely every one on this site that u will NOT live through a zombie apocalypse because zombies simpally dont exist and never will

I haven't even mentioned bio engineering done in Korea , Russia and Cuba . This can esily be mannipulated and used seamlessly against people. My Theory is that the out break will probably start in Las Vegas Nevada next to Area 51 and spread through out California. I think people are a bit off base about Area 51 I think it's Americas biggest secret because were creating biological weapons. If there are "Aliens" that would be neat but as far as facts from what i researched and it seem like there is a lot of burning of highly toxic and radioactive materials.

It is my belief that the cause of the zombie plague will be caused by the creation of a cure for Alzhimers. With the regeneration of damaged brain tissue it will cause an unstoppable rate of growth causing the patient to die from an uncontrollable heart rate. BUT the new tissue will not need the blood flow to continue its contol and feral condition.

Micro- and macroscopic, self-replicating robots that can invisbily build or destroy anything. Vast sums of money are being poured into nanotechnology.
Scientists have already created a nano-cyborg, by fusing a tiny silicone chip to a virus. The first thing they found out is these cyborgs can still operate for up to a month after the death of the host. Some day there may be nanobots in your brain. They can form their own neural pathways, meaning they can use your brain to keep operating your limbs after you've deceased and, presumably, right up until you rot to pieces in mid-stride. The nanobots will be programmed to self-replicate, and the death of the host will mean the end of the nanobots. To preserve themselves, they'd need to transfer to a new host. Therefore, the last act of the nanobot zombie would be to bite a hole in a healthy victim, letting the nanobots stream in and set up camp in the new host. Once in, they can shut down the part of the brain that resists (the cortex) and leave the brain stem intact. It should be more than clear by this point that the goal is to develop responsible researchers. Someday runaway microscopic nanobots may end civilization by flooding the planet with the cannabalistic undead.

Neurogenesis (birth of neurons) is the process by which neurons are created. Most active during pre-natal development, neurogenesis is responsible for populating the growing brain.New neurons are continually born throughout adulthood in predominantly two regions of the brain: The subventricular zone (SVZ) and subgranular zone (SGZ). Many of these newborn cells die shortly after their birth, but a number of them become functionally integrated into the surrounding brain tissue.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is a very rare and incurable brain disease that is ultimately fatal very simular to bovine spongiform encephalopathy (commonly known as mad cow disease).
The CJD prion is dangerous because it promotes refolding of native proteins into the diseased state. The number of misfolded protein molecules will increase exponentially, and the process leads to a large quantity of insoluble prions in affected cells. This mass of misfolded proteins disrupts cell function and causes cell death. Mutations in the gene for the prion protein can cause a misfolding of the dominantly alpha helical regions into beta pleated sheets. This change in conformation disables the ability of the protein to undergo digestion. Once the prion is transmitted, the defective proteins invade the brain and are produced in a self-sustaining feedback loop, causing exponential spread of the prion, leading to death within a few months. |

Alkaloids are naturally occurring chemical compounds containing basic nitrogen atoms produced by a large variety of organisms, and are part of the group of natural products. Most alkaloids are toxic to other organisms, with pharmacological effects that make them useful as medications and recreational drugs.

Toxoplasma gondii is a common parasite found in the gut of cats. Toxoplasma takes the evolutionarily sound course of being a "good" parasite, leaving the rats seemingly perfectly healthy, but Oxford scientists discovered that the minds of the infected rats have been subtly altered; Healthy rats will prudently avoid areas that have been doused with cat urine.
But does it have any effect humans? Pregnant women with high levels of antibodies to Toxoplasma are more likely to give birth to children who will develop schizophrenia. Human cells raised in petri dishes, and infected with Toxoplasma, will respond to drugs like haloperidol; The growth of the parasite stops. (Haloperidol is used to treat schizophrenia.) |
