A Different Scenario
I applaud MajorDamage and his realistic sim,but I have another one that is set in more rugged terrain with a lesser density of population(and the corresponding lack of resources).This is also a hypothetical American situation(since the Majority of members are probably from the US).
Your Objective:
-To gather,secure and transport supplies by subterfuge,force or bartering/negotiation to your fortified settlement of 4500 people.
-To ensure Force Protection by selecting and executing a/multiple route maneuver/s towards the designated target zone as indicated by prior intelligence service information.
-To also scout for any other supplies and resources in the immediate surrounding area to within an operational range of 20 Kilometers in any one direction from the epicenter of the operation.
-Initiate and maintain radio and logistical contact with HQ in settlement reporting all actions,engagements and necessary information that might assist in the planning and execution of the mission.
-Take into custody any newcomer that wishes to join the settlement and put them forward to the immigration officer for due process.
"Total Force" at your and your Command Staffs disposal:
4x Rudimentarily armored 2007 Nissan Patrols with Sun-Roof mounted M249 each acompanied by 200 round belt.Each has a Driver,Navigator(using and directing with both a GPS Map System and a land/road map) and Gunner.Has a forward and rear tow-bar so can be used for armed recovery missions.Also has a fuel consumption rate of 11Kms p/Liter "Diesel".
2x 2008 Toyota Hiluxes.Have a Driver and Navigator per vehicle with a gas guzzling rate of 9km per liter(diesel).They have two MG42 machine guns mounted on a 360 degree rotating swivel monopod.Have only a rear tow-bar and light steel plates with barricaded windows.One of the models has some unguided home-manufacture rockets with a short range of about 100ms that are fired from above the cab fitted to pods on a steel rack.4 rockets.They are fired out of a tube-launcher with a 180 degree turn rate positioned centrally above the cab.
2x 18 wheeler semi-trailer.2008 Kentworh T660.Both have large storage trailers(2) to the rear.Have nice sleeping cabs.One driver only with GPS.No exterior armor but steel mesh tinted windows.
1x Large '99 Volvo B12 6X2 Coachwith tint,comfortable paired seats in two ailes and individual air conditioning.Surround sound.Plug Door and meshed windows.This carries your infantry contingent.
Each Trooper is organized into fireteams which come under the auspices of a section leader(Section 24 men,fireteam is 4 men HQ team is 6 meaning 4 fireteams,1 HQ Unit,1 medic and 1 technician/signaller).
Weapons available are:(You have 3 sections,but only 2 can be motorized.The rest arrive in a collection of private vehicles,6 horses and light 2 & 4 wheeled motorbikes).
14 x AR-15 Rifles all with ACOG sights and flashlights and fore grips/slings.Telescoping butt stock.8672 .223 rounds.All standard jacketed rounds.
30 x AK-47/AKM/WASR rifles with an arrangement of folding,fixed and skeleton stocks.All have wooden furniture and use 7x 7 round magazines and the rest are 30 rounds.All fire the 7.62x39mm and 2 are select fire,the rest being semi-automatic.Just plain iron sights.
4x Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308WIN with Bipods and Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 scopes.Two have DPM pattern netting and a woodland camo paint Job,and the two others have polymer stocks.There are also two Ghillie suits available for use.482 .308WIN rounds.
1x Tikka T3 in .270 with Polymer stock and Leopold VX-1 3-9-40mm (silver) scope.300 rounds of .270 High-Velocity Hornady rounds.Sling.
2x Ithica Model 37 with an 400 12Ga shells(uncounted mix of slugs,turkey shot and 00 buckshot).1 has the full length stock and the other a pistol grip.Both have slings.
12 Glock 17 factory models,15 .45ACP 1911 pistols and some other handguns(all of small caliber,less than 7mm) with 250 rounds for each.
Each trooper also has 1-2 pipe Bombs and the Light Section(non-Motorized) all get 2 Molotov Cocktails each.Each person has a personal Radio and everyone is on the same frequency.Kevlar Vests are issued to Section,Fire-team and Command Staff leaders,and everyone gets a sunhat,cap or helmet.Personal attire is worn with a red band wrapped around the right arm indicating rank:
SL - Squad Leader
FTL - Fire-team Leader
CS - Command Staff
+ - Medical
"A screwdriver over phone" - Tech
Black Band - You,the commander
Blue Band - Driver
Yellow band - Unarmed civilian.
Your settlement is located at the foot of a forested mountain.It has a wooden palisade around it except for against the mountain face(which is a natural retreat exit) reinforced with steel beams and covering fire provided by watchtowers with M2 .50 caliber machine guns and snipers.A 400CM moat has been dug around the settlement that has pumps connected from under the walls to fill with water.It also has been spiked with wooden logs and barbed/razor wire creating a designated kill zone.Inside the settlement is a small community Medical center with a visiting Med Student and Local GP providing care,medicine,equipment and training.1 Ambulance.
Fire Service operates 3 fire-trucks and has a staffing of 32 firefighters and 20 prefects from the local area who assist in the manual labor.Town Mechanical garage has 7 trained mechanics and 1 professional automotive engineer who upgrade and maintain your mechanized/motorized fleet.Sports store is responsible for storing arms,ammo,leisure equipment and other light force gear.
Police Station is Local Town HQ with an un-encrypted Radio Network and 2 police officers and a small Rapid Response team of 15 men trained by the officers at the local shooting range,which has itself been transferred into a barracks.There is a town Hall and corresponding Cafe next to it which act as the town mess,where meals and rations are issued.
Each house's windows must be barricaded and supplied with non-Perishable food and generator.Water and Power are supplied by the local Wind Turbines and solar panels within the town,but it has been debated as to whether it would be feasible to capture the Nuclear Reactor 120KMS away.
10PM - 6AM Curfew for most people without a permit,and the HQ acts as a cell base for any really annoying people.If a heinous crime is committed,then the person is forcibly exiled.
Civil Defense Corps is comprised of 3 Town watches who rotate weekly and keep domestic order.
Any way,you've been instructed to use the force as described above (with 14,000 Ltrs of Fuel stored in one tank truck kept to the rear of your lines and is protected by a troop of your choice) to attack and secure supplies from a deserted National Guard Depot(the Guardsmen simply turned into Zees and dispersed according to your intelligence report from a team of pathfinders) but there still may be a present threat.You have the engineering capability to penetrate the light security measures(it's more or less like Hathronne army Depot) and thus access to "all-you-can-shoot-munitions".
