Bushmaster ACRModel: Bushmaster ACR
Originally the Magpul Masada, Magpul's entry into the Adaptive Combat Rifle competition is currently produced and marketed by Bushmaster and Remington Arms. Only in commercial production since 2010, the ACR came to public prominence through its appearance in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The ACR is a combination of several different weapons: the short-stroke gas system from the AR-18, the upper receiver of the SCAR, the trigger pack from the AR-15, and the barrel from an M16. Unique components from Magpul include a quick-change barrel system and storage compartments in the stock and grip. Caliber change only requires swapping out the barrel, bolt head, and magazine. The standard caliber is 5.56x45mm NATO, and the rifle has been envisioned as a possible replacement for the M4 carbine.

Where to find

The ACR is a brand new gun and is being promoted by major retailers, such as Gander Mountain. Unfortunately, the suggested retail price is from $2500 to $3000, quite beyond the means of the average shooter. It's a rifle that requires plenty of disposable income and dedication to consider.

Complexity

Opinions vary on the quality of the weapon; while many early writers praised the reliability and accuracy of the rifle, it's been suggested by some that it's not amazing enough to justify the high price. The rifle is made from strong polymers, ensuring excellent impact resistance, the takedown is very similar to AR-15 rifles, and the controls are ambidextrous. Shortly after its release, all rifles were recalled due to a design flaw that could cause the semi-automatic rifles to fire in bursts.
