AEP7 Laser PistolModel: AEP7 Laser Pistol
One of the most common laser pistols around, the AEP7 was first put into production in 2075 as a replacement for the older AEP5. This military-only model currently has the largest production run out of all semi-automatic laser pistols, with over 50,000 having been produced. The AEP7 produces a 1200 watt beam approximately half an inch wide, giving it awesome destructive power. The price for this is sheer bulkiness and weight. Compared to the AEP5, it has a redesigned focusing crystal pattern, an improved photonic focusing chamber and a selectable laser focus.

One advantage to the AEP7 is the very efficient energy cell, providing a whopping 30 charges per cell.

Where to find

As a military-only laser, it will be quite difficult to acquire one before Z-Day. However, a large amount are in use by the United States Army and is on its way to replacing the N99 as a sidearm.

Complexity

Being a laser weapon, the AEP7 takes a brain to care for. Knowledge of the various parts, especially the focusing crystals, is necessary to keep the weapon in proper working order. Compared to most lasers, however, the AEP7 is a very rugged weapon that can survive prolonged exposure to the elements in almost all conditions. It may very well survive an apocalypse!
