ZOMBIE DETAILS:
There are many different versions of zombies throughout movies, guides, and other media. The survival plan depends on the zombie type, and these are the specifications for the zombies for this survival plan.
They are medium speed, with their top speed around jogging pace.
They have bad coordination.
They transmit infection through saliva and other body fluids.
They are not smart enough to operate machinery, but can use primitive melee weapons such as clubs.
They have low metabolisms, and can go for a few years without food.
Their only food is human flesh.
They are modified humans that were created through biochemistry, starting with one infected person who then infected others.
They are not strategic geniuses.
They cannot swim.
They require air.
They feel no pain.
The only immediate way to kill them is to shoot destroy their brain, although they can be wounded to the point of not being harmful.
They cannot open doors, but are smart enough to know when to break down doors and walls.
They are as strong as the person they were before being infected.
They can survive for around 1 month in extreme exposure (light clothes in 10-degree weather)
The odds of a zombie turning a human into a zombie are 10%, the remaining 90% is killed.
Zombies are attracted by human smell, including sweat, blood, and other body fluids.
Zombies can hear; they are attracted by human voices but not mechanical noises like gunshots.
Their senses are not enhanced.
They are recognizable by their strange walk, light green tint, and possibly blood on their mouth.
THE RULES:
Some more specifications that affect the survival plan.
First zombie created during summer morning in Ohio (day 1), 100 infected by the end of the day.
Media reported on it on day 2.
After 10 days, 90% of Ohio was infected, and surrounding states were being infected.
A metropolitan city and its suburbs can be overrun by zombies in 3-10 days, depending on how many zombies there are to start out with.
The first zombies to reach Seattle reached it after 30 days. It will be completely overrun (90% zombies), depending on the remaining population, in around 5 days.
They will not shut off water or power. How the hell could they? They can barely walk, let alone operate a power grid. However, surges and other factors can cause power outages, which are almost guaranteed not to be fixed, meaning that they will go out eventually.
There are no electric cars or other electric vehicles available for jacking. There is also no magic.
The world’s fuel is not available except as private property after day 3.
The city of Seattle is not completely deserted after day 20, actually, 20% of the population stays there.
Every road west of the Cascades is at a standstill.
After day 2, no laws are enforced.
After day 2, there is no food available in stores.
Canned food is reliable for 1 year, and edible for 2 years.
There are no planes.
People are willing to kill people.
There are more people than zombies until day 100.
The Ballard Locks are not in service.
Without enough entertainment, people go crazy.
The plan is only for me to survive; survival for everyone else is not guaranteed.
Zombies are smart enough to attack in groups of 3-50 whenever possible. 50-60 is the max. With more than 50, they trip over each other and cannot make any progress.
With a broken leg, a zombie cannot move fast enough to be harmful.
With a broken jaw, a zombie can only infect a motionless victim.
On Z-Day, I am 21 years old, live in the suburbs of Seattle, and know how to pick locks, operate small-medium sized boats, and drive civilian vehicles.
Cool and creative zombie kills earn extra points.
THE PLANS:
Plan Alpha: Codename Sharkbait
DAY 1
Completely oblivious to the fact that humanity is on the brink of destruction
DAY 2
Hijack my neighbor’s Harley and take any weapons he has
Stockpile weapons and food
Contact 2 or 3 friends and tell them about my survival plan.
Ride Harley to a port. I live in Seattle, so there are plenty of marinas nearby where there are sailboats. If there is a sailboat, hijack it. Medium sized motor boats are acceptable, but not the first choice due to the fact that they run out of fuel. If there are no boats left, recruit a few more friends and pick up in the corresponding spot of plan Bravo.
Get the sailboat into open water and away from other thieves quickly.
DAYS 3-5
Sail to the San Juan Islands. They are a group of medium-sized islands off the coast of northern Washington. They will stay Zombie-free, and they are far enough from civilization for the guns per person ratio to exceed 1. I have relatives there who would be relatively hospitable, and are old enough that without access to medical care they will be gone soon enough.
Mooch off of said old farts.
DAYS 6-30
Continue mooching. Consider giving myself the nickname “Minnie”. If you don’t get that, don’t try.
Wait while the islands slowly but surely run out of food.
Make occasional trips to the mainland to stock up food and other resources. On these trips, attempt to befriend local groups.
DAYS 30+
The islands will eventually run out of all resources. By this time, my group and I will have a huge stockpile, and will be able to sell food for inflated prices. We will continue making trips, and, in case of an alliance with a mainland group, will trade weapons from the islands for food. The islanders will also have the means to create more bargain material, such as bows and arrows, after they trade the last of their firearms for my group’s food.
Rinse and repeat as needed.
Plan Bravo: Codename Robin Hood
DAY 1
Completely oblivious to the goings-on at the laboratory.
DAY 2
Learn everything possible about zombies through TV and internet.
Contact friends who have special skills or are particularly good-looking. Tell them to meet in Fall City. It is a small town on the edge of civilization, near a river and some mountains, both of which have lots of wildlife and therefore potential food. Tell them to bring weapons, ammunition, and supplies. Tell them to wait 3 days for traffic to get a little better. Keep calling different people until 6 or 7 are in the group. People to bring: medics, marksmen, survival experts, police officers, etc. Attempt to keep group to decent boy-girl ratio (around 1 to 2). (In case of failure to gather group, see Plan Charlie.)
While doing the above step, gather all weapons and supplies possible. Also steal flute, especially in case of plan C.
Break into neighbor’s house and steal all weapons, nonperishable supplies, and a Harley.
Ride said Harley to the nearby gun ranges and liberate or bargain for more guns and ammunition.
Ride Harley on white lines to Fall City. Try to find an empty house, or otherwise sleep under the stars.
DAY 3
Practice survival skills in the area around Fall City. Go fishing, carve bow. Search the town for 1 or 2 more combat people. Explore area.
DAY 4
Same as day 3.
DAY 5
Wait for group to arrive.
Raid the coolest house in the area, lock owner(s) in basement. If there is no one in sight, be doubly cautious.
Prepare house (boarding up windows, reinforcing doors, etc.).
Post guard duties for the night, not for zombies, but for people.
DAY 6
Guards on duty around the clock, switching off every 2 hours or so.
Stockpile gasoline.
Practice weapon use.
Use non-gas-powered vehicles whenever possible.
Send scouts to scout the area.
Hunt and fish. Eat perishable foods first.
Dry freshly caught meat.
Dry fruits and vegetables.
Live like kings and queens (there are RICH people in Fall City).
Continue converting house into fort: destroy stairs, make sniper spots, reinforce walls many times over, insolate walls, work on making entrances passable by humans, not zombies.
DAY 7-29
Same as day 6.
DAY 30+
Stay mainly cooped up in house. Kill any zombies that come near, run in case of many zombies.
Always have other safe houses scouted
Hunt in groups of 2 or 3 to stretch supplies
Possibly recruit other people, not many
Raid other houses
Plan Charlie: Codename Lone Wolf
Note: The odds of surviving zombies using this plan is mediocre, but the odds of surviving period are extremely low due to the whole “Oh I’m going to go live in the woods” mentality.
DAY 1
Oblivious to zombie outbreak
DAY 2
Find out news
Research zombies
Grab pre-packed bail-out box and grab everything else I need.
Attempt to gather group, fail to do so (in case of success, see Plan Bravo.)
Hijack Harley, guns
Head over to Mount Rainier, a large mountain with a large forest, snow that creates countless streams when it melts, and abundant wildlife.
DAYS 3+
Find a safe house, and several other backups.
Zombie-proof said houses using the steps described in Plan Bravo, but double the strength of barricades and set up traps and alarms to wake me up in case of a night attack.
Stockpile food using the steps described in Plan Bravo.
Water will be easy to find, thanks to snowmelt.
Stockpile weapons.
Never kill zombies just for the hell of it.
If I do kill zombies just for the hell of it, always leave a bullet for myself, just in case.
If I can’t find a safehouse, build an elevated shelter.

Hey, i saw the rude "incorrect facts" thread and thought you could use some useful criticism.

A. Well early on in your plan i noticed you informed your friends day of your knowledge. you should definetly inform members of your squad/group/team before hand of Fall city. this should be set up before hand incase phone lines are busy or you cant mail a letter in time.

B. is stealing a harley from your living neihbor that necessary. because if you are still in your home it is still save around your home. also i dont think riding a herley would be your best choice. they do have good MPG ad a bike but can you carry enough supplies just in case you cant get there ssafely and need to lay over for a while.

C. buy a bow, don't carve one. no insult to your skillz man, but purchasing one before hand with arrows and practice would be more suitable to what ive noticed on this site.

D. and most likely the townsfolk would have heard of the Zombie apacolypse by now and are weary of raiders, like yourself, can you really bring yourself to steal from an old married couple with young kids then leave them to dead in the basement? how you use the town like this should be changed, its better to have more "Merry men" on your side.

just noticed right in the beginning, if only 10% of infected survive as zombies, and 90% die, how can 90% of Ohio be infected? wouldn't it be 10%?

and for plan C: if you leave one bullet for yourself, instead, use it to be sure the attacking zombie is dead then jump off some cliff or something. either that, or while you still have sanity, bring your supplies to the nearest group of survivors for them to use and have them kill you.
