This thread is not a discussion if its construction is a good idea or not. its a discussion of how one would achieve such a goal. It is good that you point out flaws in the plan but you should also do your best to solve it.
Needs for the plan to work. - Hangar for construction and parking what kind of buildings are large enough to house a smaller zeppelin? -Lifting gas where would one find such gas? possible ways to produce your own. Building material. what kind of materials are needed to make the structure as well as the envelope. how can one make/scavenge airtight fabrics good types of seals. -Steering a good system of maneuvering -propulsion/Fuel What kind of engine would be a good idea to use? The old zeppelins used blaugas that had the same density as air and did not change the weight of the craft. what kind of fuel would replace this function. Is it possible to produce blaugas? these are the problems Ive faced while exploring the concept. please add more problems and most importantly solutions.

You can actually buy your own Semi-Rigid Airship here: http://www.ahausa.com/ . The most useful one, the Light Utility Model can carry 8 people/ 2380 lbs. Unfortunately, it does cost over $900,000. But in a post apocalyptic world money won't be relevant now will it?

helicopters,im my opinion, are better than planes, because they can hover when picking people up,you can put a MG in the side if you have one to spare, and helicopters only require a helipad, whereas planes need an airstrip/runway if they need to land

Aircraft are High Maintenance, High Stress, High Danger, kind of transportation. It requires service before takeoff after Landing and in most cases in between. They are somewhat ahrd to find as well and most of the time it requires a team of people with different skills such as an engineer and pilot. Aircraft are also very hard to manuever with G-Force and High-Altitude. Most people would black out and crash without a suit. And think about it. What would be so great about dropping some explosives on the some zombies. They may be a great way of transportation but you can't really land them anywhere. I would suggest a bomber.

while they might not be the best aircraft for a Z-day scenario, they have a few things that might be better than other aircraft.
1. they are similar to helicopters (however they can't hover, come pretty close though) 2. some have ranges of over 300 miles (http://www.sportcopter.com/supersport.php) 3. can go about 100 MPH 4. doesn't need much space for take off (launching off a street???) 5. could be used how an ultralight would be used only with the added bonus of almost hovering, a longer range on some gyroplanes, and less room needed for takeoff.

Should this page be made exclusivly civilian/police aircraft, and have military aircraft relocated to the appropriate military aircraft page?

Ultralights are considered experimental aircraft if they are built in kits. In the U.S.A., you can do just about anything with an experimental aircraft. One guy i know built an in-flight refueler that re-filled 6 of his 10 gallons his tank could carry. If you build a plane in the configuration with the engine in back, you have total freedom to put stuff on the front. You could even build a single seater and have an MG in front of you, like World War 1, execpt the engine is in the back so no need to build an interuptor gear. Then you could chuck molotov's and stuff out the side, but you must be smart about it. So, an ultra-light aircraft could be more useful than you think.

Mentioned in the general vehicle section, shouldn't blimps be included on this page as well?

grab your food, gun (or in my case shovel & sword) & explosives (or something that'll destroy stairs) and head to the airport once there go up the stairs go into the plane destroy or move the stairs and wait in the plane and put the food in the fridge and wait for all this to blow over. if need be move the plane but dont take off (run over zombies in a plane he he he...)
