Allowing entry and controlling the breach planThis is a featured page

Introduction

What I have come up with is a way for a group stationed inside a fortress to kill a large horde of zombies without firing a shot. This is my ambitious plan for allowing zombies inside your fortress in a controlled and orderly way and dealing with their remains without fire or burial. This is a difficult plan that would take a lot of work and ingenuity. Doing your homework and having blueprints and a list of materials post-Z would be best.

Letting them in.

My idea would call for a 3' in circumference, 20 ft. long length of galvanized corrugated steel pipe. Placed outside of your wall or fence and running through right into your fortress. Sound crazy? Its not its a way to allow zeds inside your fortress on your own terms. You control when and if they enter.

At the end of the culvert pipe would be this gate or something fabricated similar to this model. Since the culvert is only 3'in circumference a zed would be bent down or on their hands and knees. This is a livestock head gate used for holding cattle and hogs while they are given immunizations or are ear tagged.

When zeds reached the end of the culvert you'd have a team member operate the gate and head trap them. Another team mate would then deal with the trapped zed with his choice of melee weapon. The next step would be to have two team members ready with poles with hooks at the end (the kind that deep sea fishermen use). They'd hook the dispatched zed and when your gate operator let off on the gate lever they'd pull out the dead zed and the gate guard would trap the next one in line.

Disposing of the expired zombies

What do you do with the dead zeds? Well just return to the top of this page and watch the youtube video I've included in this plan. A trebuchet (french catapult) is not impossible for someone with plans to build and there are no shortages of plans on the Internet.

In conclusion

This plan isn't as down to earth as what I'm used to devising but definitely not impossible. It could be used for saving ammo, for members who have no access to firearms or for use when you've run out of ammo.

Most importantly to me it would allow a party of survivors to control the situation they are in other than letting it control them. The culvert lets you decide whether they are going to pour over your walls or enter on their hands and knees. The gate lets you negotiate when they enter and how. The trebuchet gets them back out where they belong and keeps them from piling up along your defenses and topping your walls. Having a pit dug where the safety net is would make for a mass grave.

This is my plan for an unorthadox method of defending a fortress against zeds. It allows you to kill zombies safely within your walls on your terms.

Let me know what you think?

I think this is overall a good idea. Though, it may not be 100% effective. I recall watching Dawn of the Dead (1978). They had a crude cattle entry contraption, and one of the zeds got loose. Your idea seems much more foolproof, however. The gate is made of metal (unlike Dawn of the dead). Also, the Trebuchet is a good way of keeping zombie corpses hundreds of feet away.
