Im also Aussie, and everyone is forgetting our greateast advantage over any other country... we dont give a shit about anything!
If a zombie apocolypse does rise, ill take my swag drive to the the middle of oz and camp it out. If i get followed i'll move on.
Australia also has one of the most intense landscapes and climates. During the day the centre can reach and exceed 50*C (121*F) and during the night drop well below freezing. A zombie body would dry up within a week and they would be nothing but a shambling fragile bag of bones.
I reckon our wild life alone could destroy most zombies, even our bush pigs can remove a leg, then there's our crocs, dingo's, roo's, tasmanian devils... the list is massive. If poisons have any effect on zombies then they're screwed, Australia is home to the most venamous snakes, spiders and insects.
So we dont really need guns on a large scale, our low population and isolation are our main advantage.

Oh and if you think zombies can float to Tasmania then you're wrong, the current goes east and back upto Sydney so they're back where they started

Aaaaand yes, we do have nice hats.
