I love the proximity to Home Depot! If you don't have what you need at Walmart, you can surely find it at the Depot!
Are you gonna fortify this place by yourself? Or will you have help? |

I personally would warn people about choosing a Walmart as a fortification for several reasons:
1) It is the most obvious and easily thought of places to go during a zombie outbreak. You would be flocked with so many people that you would have many things to worry about. Feeding all of these people, having to deal with the conflicts of ideas and people themselves (not everyone agrees on what do do), and of course all the zombies following these people is a big danger to put yourself in. Plus it is an enticing target for non-zombie enemies (ie: looters, gangs, etc.). An example of this would be the George A Romero movies, since it is usually the disagreement and fighting of the survivors that lead to their downfall. 2) Because Walmart is a have-everything store, you would sacrifice abundance for variability. When you only really need food, supplies (weapons, gear, etc.), you would want to consider simply visiting specialty stores (although at the very beginning Walmart could be the perfect place to initially "gear up"). Walmart, however, has supplies ranging from basketball nets to baby clothing, from car accessories to house paint. You really don't need all of this stuff, and the fact that Walmart has groceries doesn't really make it the prime location (Not as much as a grocery or bulk food store ie: Costco, and less of it is non-perishable). 3) Walmart is a "jack-of-all-trades, master of none" type of building. Buildings such as Costco provide the same type of functionality with less weaknesses (more supplies, less opening ie: The big front window at most Walmarts) 4) You may feel enticed not to leave the Walmart, when it is more advisable to leave the city altogether. Walmart is an excellent first-stop location, but I would recommend another place for long-term. |
